He should lawyer up, keep quiet, and see what happens.
Making public statements is a horrible idea as well.
Well that's because its looking likely that he's not 100% in the clear, at least in some regards, if not down right guilty of murder.
Are you suggesting that if the police showed up at my door asking questions about a neighbor's house being broken into, and I know I didn't do it, can produce an alibi that I should stonewall the police even if I have a clue or two that could be helpful???

As a general rule of thumb, it isn't in your best interest to make a statement without consulting a lawyer and making sure your statement is completely consistent and truthful. It's probably not necessary in the case that you've outlined given that it's not a super serious offense, particularly if you have no reason to think that you'd be considered a suspect.
Murder is a whole different ball of wax and anyone who doesn't lawyer up when being questioned is certifiably crazy.
Re: Aaron Hernandez Might be Cut from my Fantasy Team
Not to derail the thread, but I don't have level of trust of police officers in general. Not that I think they're all crooked as much as they have their own set of objectives, goals, career aspirations, etc.... that I wouldn't trust them to always do the right thing. I'd avoid talking to them in any situation like this regardless of how innocent I was.
Re: Aaron Hernandez Might be Cut from my Fantasy Team
It's a good thing he was cleared because this would look bad if Hernandez if he was still a suspect.
Neighbor's video surveillance show Hernandez and two others arriving at his house not long after shots were reported in the area. Hernandez' personal home surveillance was destroyed. The cell phone Hernandez turned into police was in pieces.
Re: Aaron Hernandez Might be Cut from my Fantasy Team
The more I'm reading, the more I believe Hernandez definitely played a part in the murder.

BUT he wasn't cleared?
Re: Aaron Hernandez Might be Cut from my Fantasy Team
Just saw a report that an arrest warrant has been issued for him for obstruction of justice.
Re: Aaron Hernandez Might be Cut from my Fantasy Team
Sounding a lot like Ray Lewis

I don't think Ray Lewis knowingly destroyed evidence and tried to cover it up. I could be wrong, but I don't remember all of the details of the Lewis fiasco.

Guess you never heard about the disappearing white suit Ray was wearing that night.
The story also reminds me of Jayson Williams from the Nets, though that was an accidental murder that they tried to cover up.
Re: Aaron Hernandez Might be Cut from my Fantasy Team
Will that destroyed evidence be enough to avoid a murder charge/conviction?
He handled this all rather poorly. Those cleaners can easily be subpoenaed to testify to the nature of their cleanup... He should have said the cellphone was lost and that his security system had been turned off or was unplugged... Anything, really, besides what he did.
Rule #1 to scrubbing a crime scene: don't hire a cleaning service, do your own sanitizing.

Rule #2: After the murder, just hit some golf balls around in your backyard, then get on a plane to Chicago.

You forgot the big one... Having your buddy drive you around town in a Ford Bronco with a phalanx of cop cars behind you.
Re: Aaron Hernandez Might be Cut from my Fantasy Team
The whole damn thing is just bizarre.....and I think in the end it will be very sad. A man is already dead and I presume Hernandez knows something about it. I need to give him a call and shout in his ear, "5 YEARS, 40 MILLION DOLLARS, WHAT EXACTLY WERE YOU THINKING ABOUT?" Simply pitiful.

I was thinking Jayson Williams and Ray Lewis but moreso Williams. It remains to be seen if this one is accidental or not
