Framber Valdez could have been worse.
11th pitcher coming in still in the top of the 7th of a tie game. That could get interesting.
Is bunting a form of Viagra for baseball announcers? Joe Buck and John Smoltz just came out of their game-long comas over the prospect of a bunt.
Can you imagine the Reds throwing 6 bullpen guys to try and shut out the Red Sox lineup over 7 innings? Sorry, SEVEN bullpen guys.
Did Michael Brantley suddenly get Sean Casey slow? He barely made it into the picture on one of the clunkiest DP turns I've ever seen.

Ranking the 10 worst umpire calls in MLB postseason history
9. 1970 World Series, Game 1, Baltimore Orioles vs. Cincinnati Reds
https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/gi...season-historyQuote:
Ken Burkhart took the concept of “umpires getting in the way” to a new level in the opener for the 1970 World Series.
The home plate ump thought Orioles catcher Elrod Hendricks would throw to first after collecting a measly chopper in front of the batter’s box. The action ended up happening at the plate, where Burkhart was standing right in the middle of Bernie Carbo’s path.
Carbo barreled into Burkhart and was called out by the man he just ran over. Not only was Carbo upset because his running lane was blocked, but Hendricks applied the tag with his glove when the ball was actually in his throwing hand.
Cincinnati manager Sparky Anderson argued with Burkhart, but to no avail. The game remained tied at 3-3 and the Orioles went on to win both Game 1 and the World Series.
That one probably deserves to be higher. Thoughts on a few others:
- I don't think you can blame the ump for Hrbek pulling a fantastic heel move on Gant. He sold it beautifully. That was art.
- The Armbrister play has always struck me as another case of Red Sox fans searching for perceived sleights (e.g. don't blame Bucky Dent for where you put that wall). Armbrister wasn't sure if the ball was fair and Fisk barreled through him. Looks like Geronimo was going to beat his throw regardless, and Geronimo would have scored from 2B on Morgan's subsequent single. Fisk botched the play, but ultimately it didn't matter.
- Denkinger in the forever #1.

Changing coaches should turn everything around for the Yankees.
I'm becoming more-and-more convinced that the team that wins the World Series this year is going to be the one that gets the 4+ IP stints from its pitchers. The Astros are heading for for another 8/9-pitcher outing, and they're going to be on fumes if they keep that up.
So now both Cardinal and Dodger fans refer to Chris Taylor as “Chris F******g Taylor.
Braves win Game 1, 3-2.
Today's playoff lesson is stolen bases are good.
As these playoffs progress I have determined that while the Reds aren’t far from being a team that could make the playoffs….to win in the playoffs though they need guys like Kyle Farmer to be their 6th best defender, not their best…..need to improve quickness and athleticism…..and need about 4 relievers better than our best reliever.
Joc Pederson quickly becoming a legend in ATL.
I’ve been out where his HR off Scherzer landed. That’s a grown man’s HR.
