Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Reds lead 4-0 going to the top of the 4th.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Here's the down and dirty from the Reds site:
The Reds used run-scoring hits by Drew Sutton, Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips after two outs in the fourth to put a four-spot on the board.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Reds out in order in the 4th. 4-0 Reds
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Even Willy T can't keep the Reds from scoring runs.
Bronson must think he's dreaming with all this run support.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Willy is doing what he can to get his starting job back.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
I had no idea today was a day game.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Pirates get a hit but that is all. Still 4-0 Reds going to the 5th.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Worth noting: This is Balentien's first game apperance since his error helped lead to a loss against the Marlins a week ago. I had predicted that Dusty would 'punish' him and I think I was right.

Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
LaRoche doubles just past Rolen's glove.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
When do we go back and list all the posters who wanted to drag Arroyo behind the barn and shoot him -- sort of like the list of Taveras supporters?
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
LaRoche is left stranded at 3rd and the Reds still lead 4-0 after five.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Votto K's. Eight set down in a row for Charlie Morton.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Phillips GO to 1st. Two away.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Rolen GO to end the Reds 6th. 4-0 Reds
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
McCutcheon flies out to Gomes to start the Buccos 6th
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Young GO to SS. Quickly two away. Arroyo in a good groove again today.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Arroyo's ERA has fallen so much recently he's now just outside the NL's top 20.
He's better than guys like Billingsley, Davis, Hamels and Oswalt.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Jones K's to end the inning. 4-0 Reds after six.

Once these 2nd half performances mean something other then lowering his ERA.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Gomes pops out to start the Reds 7th. 12 set down in a row for Morton.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Yikes, after I clamored to get a game thread going and now I've gotten busy as a one armed paper hanger. Thanks for the updates. Balentien singles, btw.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Double play to end the inning, heading to the bottom of the 7th.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Hanigan promptly hits into a DP and the Reds 7th is history. 4-0 Reds.

It wasn't the posters fault that Arroyo was so erratic, just like it's not Arroyo's fault that he's put up a spectacular 2nd half....but it's not noticed because the rest of the team crumbled.

Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Milledge homers breaking up the shutout.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
HR from Lastings Milledge. The lead is cut to 4-1.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Moss GO to to Phillips. One away in the Pirate 7th
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
LaRoche a GO to SS. Two down.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Jaramillo a seeing eye single.
-

I know you mentioned how his era has fallen in the previous sentence but I'm hoping that you were just pointing out that his era is better than the era of those four guys right now. I'd have a hard time believing that he's better than them overall.

Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
Francisco hitting for Arroyo. A new pitcher for the Pirates, Jackson.

Two hits in his first game back. He's a hitting machine now.
-
Re: Reds vs Pirates 9-24-09
I think Willy senses that his job security is on the line. I wish he would have sensed that months ago, LOL ;)

He just needed a little competition from someone to excel. :)
