Speirs was the closer for Clemson.
Three more, accoording to BA:
- Leo Nierenberg, RHP, Washington
- Braxton Roxby, RHP, Pittsburgh-Johnstown
- Stevie Branche, RHP, Rochester (N.Y)
Branche's the only one with a reasonably good ERA. He also won his conference pitcher of the year award in 2019. The other two are big strikeout guys. Not sure we should try to read too much into stats, if we're buying into the development gurus.
All smart guys. Nierenberg is a multiple-time conference all-academic. Roxby's a civil engineering major, and Branche a engineering technology major at RIT.
We've signed 3 more pitchers . A Senior from Washington and our first Junior from Pitts-Johnstown. And a Sr from Rochester Institute of Technology

Also an unconfirmed report we signed Army OF Jacob Hurtubise. Speedster. Stole 105 bases in his Army career. (apparently not a violation of honor code)
Signed Brett Lockwood P of out Kansas State.
Nice write up on Blanche. Had matching offers from Reds and Giants and chose Reds for their player development.

Tyler Keysor, P, Miami signed with the Reds as well.
Hurtubise is an interesting signing. He's from the Indianapolis area. BA has him as the 14th best undrafted senior. Two-time conference first-team and all-academic team, 2019 conference defensive player of the year and a second-team All American (per ABCA/Rawlings).
- 2017 - .238/.366/.252, 18/26 SB, 30:22 SO:BB
- 2018 - .278/.428/.325, 42/49 SB, 25:50 SO:BB
- 2019 - .375/.541/.445, 45/52 SB, 26:69 SO:BB
Clearly, a good contact guy with a great understanding of the zone but little-to-no power. Seems to have lots of intangibles and secondary traits (defense, base-running) that might allow him to overcome his limitations. At the very least, should be a fun guy to root for in the minors.
Here's another
Alex McGarry, infielder/outfielder, Oregon State: He hit .288 in 14 games in 2020 as a redshirt junior. In 2019, he hit .293 with eight home runs. He’s from Vancouver, Wash.
We have signed more UDFA's so far than any other team.
