FOX SPORTS OHIO ANNOUNCES 145-GAME CINCINNATI REDS TELEVISION SCHEDULE for 2010 SEASON
CINCINNATI, OHIO – FOX Sports Ohio today announced its 145-game Cincinnati Reds television schedule for 2010. The Reds regular season begins with their home opener on Monday, April 5 at 1pm against division rival St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ball Park.
"We're excited for a new season of Reds baseball," said Henry Ford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, FOX Sports Ohio. "With the addition of some talented new players during the off-season, both on the field and in the broadcast booth, Reds fans have plenty of reasons to look forward to the upcoming season. FOX Sports Ohio is proud to provide fans unparalleled, state-of-the-art coverage of the Reds all year long."
The network will kick off its coverage of the home opener with Reds Live pre-game show, presented by Ray St. Clair Roofing at 12:30pm. Jim Day, Jeff Piecoro and Brian Giesenschlag will take the field to feature all the Opening Day festivities.
As previously announced, Thom Brennaman will serve as the play by play voice for the majority of Reds game telecasts this season. Cincinnati native and longtime broadcaster Paul Keels will be the play-by-play announcer for the remainder of the Reds schedule. Both broadcasters will team with color analysts Chris Welsh and Jeff Brantley. George Grande will also return to his play-by-play announcing role in September on a limited basis.
FOX Sports Ohio will continue its comprehensive pregame coverage of the Reds all season long with the return of Reds Live, presented by Ray St. Clair Roofing, featuring co-hosts Day and Piecoro and feature reporter Giesenschlag. Reds Live will once again provide fans with commentary, features, and in-depth pregame coverage of the Reds 30 minutes prior to every game telecast. Immediately following the final out of each game, the post-game edition of Reds Live will feature highlights, player interviews and analysis.
Behind-the-scenes on all of FOX Sports Ohio’s Reds productions are producer Christian Roberts; directors Brian Hunterman and Roy Alfers; and Reds Live producer Kent Weaver.
The following schedule does not include high definition (HD) telecasts. The release of the complete Reds schedule including HD is forthcoming.
See the following for the standard definition schedule.

So, I'll bite -- is there any logical reason why they're willing to do production for 145 games and not shell out for the remaining 17?
Not that I'm complaining (as I can remember the days you had to wait for the occasional game on WLWT locally), but it seems strange to do so many games and randomly not do a handful.

Most of the games they seem to not broadcast are those weekday day games. I guess they figure so much of the audience is at work/busy during the day that it's better to just keep whatever their standard programming is on those days

Wouldn't it make more sense to just say "We're broadcasting all of the Reds games this year, except these 17" or "We're broadcasting all of the Reds games this year, except the day games played on weekdays"?
:dunno:
We pretty much know what the gig is going to be every year by now, so this announcement means nothing. The announcement of the HD games will be something newsworthy, but even with that (and while I'm being cynical :) ), I think we're reaching a point where we should expect every game to be in HD. The technology ain't exactly new or a novelty anymore.
