If he was a SS it might be a different story, but even Ozzie Smith consistently slugged above .300
I'm highly confident his SLG will rise significantly next season. This season was so short he barely got to get past the transition phase. He's not a slap hitter. He was putting up 50+ XBH every season Japan. I expect him to start driving the ball next season.
Re: Will Castellanos stay?
Assuming all of Bauer, Disco and Galvis are gone I don't think the Reds will need to non-tendor anyone. I just don't think they'll spend any of that money. That will be their way of saving. Now, if they somehow find a way to keep Bauer you'll probably see additional cost cutting on guys like Bradley, Goodwin etc...

I feel like the Reds whiffed with Shogo. Bench player at best. The Gold Glove voters must take not take throwing ability into account. Shogo has no arm.
Re: Will Castellanos stay?
shogo was pretty good after he adjusted to the velocity of MLB pitchers. he had never consistently seen velo like that, or even close. i agree with M2 that shogo will be better overall in 2021. and on a team of free-swinging, power-or-nothing guys, having someone who works the count and gets on base like shogo helps balance things out. i remain somewhat bullish on him, while knowing the reds overpaid for him. but they likely needed to overpay to get him. just like they did with moose (and perhaps castellanos).
Re: Will Castellanos stay?
If Nick likes money, and I'm pretty sure he does, there's no way he opts out with the current economic state of the MLB especially coming off the season he had.

The deadline already passed, he’s staying

Ha. Thanks! I've been checked out lately due to the business of life.
Re: Will Castellanos stay?
I really like having Goodwin around as depth, and he may potentially be one of the best starting 3 OF.
Shogo had no slugging last year, and his OBP was boosted by short hot streak.. Likewise, it's possible he adjusted and will be good going forward, but I want insurance.
Senzel has a lot of injuries. Good to have a quality backup for him as well.
Castellanos? Good to have quality depth in the OF so we can put in a defensive replacement better than Janowski.

It depends on your view of strikeouts. Goodwin strikes out way too much, and it’s not just last season.
I’d like to see Reds add more contact hitters to go along with their big power guys.
BABIP was a problem last year, but it also helps if you make contact and increase the denominator in the equation.

Good point, Goodwin is a flawed player.
I know people will disagree, but I think Shogo is even more flawed than Goodwin though.
