Yep. When he slumps, he still gets on base at a good clip because of the walks. But watching him hit during slumps can be frustrating at times too, because he always seems to chase bad balls down during slumps.Quote:

Ortiz has been in a 3-2 count about 3 or 4 times already.
Casey Walks...
Ears up.
Casey walks.
Kearns grounds out, Casey to 2nd. 1 out.
Casey moves up on the ground out.
Kearns out on a dribbler to the pitcher towards the first base side.
Casey to second.
Larue walks.
It would have been nice to see Kearns take some pitches instead of hacking at the 1st one.
1st and 2nd for the Reds.......
LaRued Walked.
Encarnacion pops out. 2 outs.
Okay, I admit it. FCB was right, I was wrong. This is the same Kearns we saw in the first half. Still chasing bad pitches, and swinging at too many first pitches.
This Kearns doesn't even remotely resemble the Kearns of early 2003, or even the Kearns we saw in July. I'm not giving up on Kearns, but I am starting to worry. Oh what might have been had Ray King not sit on Austin...
Claussen strikes out. 3 outs.
No score after 2 innings.
He looks really really bad. Pitchers are playing with him. He instills no fear at all. I don't know if he's just a head case. He kills the ball in Louisville and can't get his bat around up here....Quote:
