Re: Official Redszone TV Thread, Part III
I enjoyed the first episode of The Mayor. I'll give it a shot. Watched the first two episodes of Ghosted. Not sure about it. I'm a big fan of Adam Scott and Craig Robinson, so I'll give it a few more episodes.

Granted, I just watched and really enjoyed the first season of an Anne of Green Gables remake, so I guess I'm complicit.
I think they finally figured out, hey all this nostalgia works in film ...
I was pretty down for new episodes of The X-Files, although I didn't finish it. I am not sure I've seen any other reboots.

They aren't really "remakes" so much as they are bringing back old, well-loved characters that have large fanbases -- and that's a tradition about as old as there is (Sherlock Holmes, post Reichenbach Falls, says "Hi!").
As to why they exist? Studios and TV networks are incredibly risk-averse, and it's easier to remind people of an old, popular IP than it is to sell them on a completely new one. Also, a lot of the actors/actresses involved in these revivals have past their peak earning years in the business and are now more willing to do content at a lower price. The cast of "Cheers" was earning a fortune per episode in their final season -- pretty sure you can get Kirstie Alley for your show now if you pick up her wardrobe & catering bills.

With streaming services and 200 channels there is a need for content.

I get the feeling by watching his shows that Mike Schur is not a fan of the state of Florida.

OK -- so I was wrong in my assessment of Star Trek: Discovery.
It's still "Star Trek" -- it's just "Star Trek" where the writers have set the show on one of the many Starfleet ships the Enterprise is forced to investigate / hunt down because the captain & crew have gone rogue and everything is messed up.

House of Cards will end after its upcoming 6th season.

Stranger Things thoughts...
Eleven carried s1. Steve and Lucas carried 2.
Eleven was kinda cringy this season...ep 7 was kinda wat, total waste of time. But yea, no spoilers...just hate everything about Eleven's role this season.
Steve is still the best character.

This past week, Jason revealed that he went to Lynyrd Skynrd High School in Jacksonville. Comedy gold.
