Re: 9-17-17 Reds vs Pirates
Today's Joe Nuxhall Star of the Game is Robert Stephenson, who pitched 6 innings allowing no runs on only 1 hit with 8 K's to earn the win for the Reds.

I think that would be a fairly safe and reasonable assumption.
On pace for 71-91.
Re: 9-17-17 Reds vs Pirates
I wish the Reds coulda got pitching like they have lately for the entire year.
It woulda been a helluva fun season.

No it wouldn't. It would have ruined their draft position.
Re: 9-17-17 Reds vs Pirates
8-18 .307 in July (50-112 over 162)
58-66 .467 rest of the season (75-86)
With any kind of health next year, they are going to be good

I wish we could have played the Pirates at home every game.

We've heard that refrain before. After last season, everyone was saying that after the way they closed out 2016, they were going to be much improved. Well, they are currently looking to finish within three games of last year's record.

so you think that if Disco and Finnegan were healthy they'd have the same record? Both were healthy after the end of last season.
Never mind, of course you do.

No, what I'm saying is that we should expect some kind of unanticipated health/injury problems to rear their heads (especially since they have been such a common occurrence in the last three years), instead of blindly thinking that everything is going to be rainbows and unicorns.

And a year from now after they don't spend any $ over the winter, and Castillo, Raisel and homer miss most of the year with injuries, and Bryan gets extended another year despite another 70 win season, the same crowd will be telling us how good things look for 2019.

Watch out, Klu. Tom will accuse you of being a pessimist.

The Reds have done this to me. Before last season, I was an eternal optimist.
Re: 9-17-17 Reds vs Pirates
I actually agree with Klu, re: outsized expectations because of team's September performance. But trying to toss out good performances by the kids because some, not all, came against the Pirates...c'mon.

Nobody's "tossing out good performances by the kids". But they're going to use those good performances as an excuse for not spending any money this winter. And then they'll sell it to the eternal optimists.
