Re: 9/23/13 -- Reds vs Mets; Choo's back!
Cueto not sharp...40+ pitches already with 0 out in the 3rd.

You can't simply never swing 3-0, otherwise you will become too predictable.
Bruce with two runners on swinging 3-0 if he gets the "automatic strike" may make sense in many circumstances.
I'm not sure if Bruce got a fat pitch to hit, but if he did I don't mind taking a swing at in in the right circumstances.
Is it dumb baseball if he got a 3-run HR?
I like Jay's chances, giving him the green light against Harang in this ball park.
Re: 9/23/13 -- Reds vs Mets; Choo's back!
Ludwick is worrying me. He should definitely be batting 5th instead of 4th. If Harang would rather walk in a run to face Luddy, then that's not good at all.

We have all thought about this for 2 weeks. Who is pitching good enough to start the 1 game playoff? I'm at a loss. I'm leaning for Leake...I swear.

You pitch Latos of course.

Well, he pitches Wed. we will see how that goes....

Bruce should not have swung on 3-0. It just wasn't that good a pitch. It was borderline low and outside.
I have no problem swinging 3-0 but with the bases loaded you have to make sure you are swinging at a very easy pitch to hit.
Re: 9/23/13 -- Reds vs Mets; Choo's back!
Why not walk Wright here?

It depends if you judge "who's pitching well" based on their last start.
If that's the case, you ned to wait to see their last start.
Of course, it will pretty much be Latos as he's the one set up to do so, as he will have the proper rest.

Latos said today he is pitching with an abdominal strain.

Unless he pulls a Jeff Locke, I'm still starting him in the WC game regardless of Wednesday's results.

I have no problem with Bruce swinging 3-0. But a weak grounder to 2B means he didn't get his pitch to hit, or was fooled. You only swing if you get your pitch and you're ready for it. Clearly that is not what happened.

He did not get a pitch to hit, he seemed fooled by the pitch. Borderline pitch at best.

I agree...I think the decision has already been made, but He better pitch lights out against a sub .500 mets team on Wed. or the fans and the press will be all over it, and Latos will be in a good frame of mind if Wed does not go well.
Re: 9/23/13 -- Reds vs Mets; Choo's back!
Like I said, Latos is not healthy right now. So the Reds have a decision to make.
