100% a real SS
Schrok for Scherzer.
Schtraight up.
jose barrero is the real SS. it's just a matter of when they call him up. no need to trade for a SS now when we know who our SS of the future is.
the time to trade for a SS was the offseason. now? might as well roll with farmer until they call barrero up. which i imagine won't be long from now.
If they turn it around, I'd trade for Trevor Story and some relief help. The Reds will never spend the money to add and shouldn't spend the controllable talent.
Agree. Need to be a little more patient with Jose. Prior to this season he's only had two seasons of low/high A ball. Doing well at AA Chattanooga, a true test, for the moment ...

Address the pitching woes they created (lol). Of course young arms like Greene, Lodolo, Santillan, and Gutierrez may correct that. Just get a couple to hit and that's a huge improvement to this rotation with a Gray and Mahle. They still have Castillo under their control relatively cheap. Keep fingers crossed he can figure it out. But at the soon-to-be age of 29 the clock is ticking.
Run prevention is the big issue now.
I think a big impact could be made with some reasonable bullpen help. They don't necessarily have to go after a Chapman type, just a couple of real, major league caliber arms added to the couple they have. This shouldn't take much at all in prospect capital.
Two new arms, plus Antone, and perhaps Doolittle, Hembree, and Sims can be your hopefully OKish guys, with another slot or two saved for the AAAA shuttle/rebound guys.
Examples:
José Cisnero or Fulmer from DET
Drew Steckenrider from SEA
John King TEX
Clay Holmes PIT
Daniel Bard COL
Cole Sulser BAL
Daniel Hudson WAS
I mean, aim higher if you can, but to me a couple of solid bullpen arms helps 2021 without hurting anything in the future.
Could use another depth starter as well.
If the Reds are buying presumably it’s for a playoff run this year. If so, they have to begin with a starting pitcher.
They only have three reliable starters right now, Gray, Miley, and Mahle.
They need relievers too, and maybe some answers come from the farm. But Reds won’t make much progress with only three dependable starters.
The last thing this team should be doing to "buy"
