By about mid season you really won't notice much of a change. I do think it may open the lane up a little bit as the wing players will start a little bit further out than what they currently do.

Coaches like to control things.
Calling time outs is a control on the game.
It'll slow down games, for sure, but the other two rules are generally positive, so, y'know, one step forward overall.

No, no, no....it is under 2 minutes to go when the coaches can call a TO...

Huh? The last two minutes are already slow. Allowing a coach to call a TO when his team has the ball will do nothing to change that. Its not like they are giving teams unlimited TO's under two minutes.
Re: College Basketball 2019-2020
Coaches were already calling the TO's before and just relaying it to the players to make the actual signal. So, no, it won't slow down play one iota.
Three point line might be interesting. I'm sure it will affect some and who that will be, will be big for some teams.

Then why make the TO rule? Now under 2 minutes is an official gonna have his eye on the HC?

There will be more time outs because, often, players don't see the coach calling TO's from the bench.
It'll slow down the game by a couple of minutes more than it already is.

It won't have any effect. The last two minutes of a game already drag along, it won't matter if a coach can call a TO directly or a player does. The TO still gets used. File this new change under much ado about nothing.

We disagree.
There were a number of games where players ignored or forgot to look at the bench and simply played along last season. It happened at Kentucky twice (SEC Tourney v. UT was the worst one), at Duke once (v. Syracuse), at UNC a couple of times. IIRC, IU suffered particularly in late games wherein they didn't call time outs. (It may have been another team that struggled mightily in conference play.)
That will stop.
Re: College Basketball 2019-2020
So the effect one the average game will be to lengthen it by approximately 2 seconds. That's after spreading the 8 extra timeouts that will be called over every game all season long.

I wonder who the AAC will replace them with? From what I have read UConn plans on going independent in football.
Re: College Basketball 2019-2020
Kerry Blackshear to Florida.
Don’t remember any recruit being pegged so many different directions before the team was announced. Last week Kentucky was the favorite, earlier in the week Tennessee.
