I'm pretty excited to see Ramirez pitch. Rick Sweet says he's got one of the better changeups you will see.

I hope he does well, the loyal Reds fans of Redszone deserve some positives from the team.

Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Randy Winn belts a lead off solo homerun after striking out looking on the previous pitch.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
After the homer Ramirez gets two ground outs and a strikeout. He's got a very nice changeup, though he hung one to Winn who hammered it. The pitch before the homer looked like strike three. His fastball was around 90-92.

Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
dickerson with a leadoff triple:beerme:
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08

-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
corey with an rbi single...runners on 1st and 2nd, two outs...
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
RBI single for Patterson, 3-1 Reds.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Hanigan doubles, Bruce and Patterson score! 5-1 Reds.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
hanigan with a two run double...reds lead 5 - 1...still two outs...
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Ramirez gets a groundout and strikeout to begin the second but then walks an awful hitter and serves up a two run homer. 5-3. Two out walks to crappy hitters are killer. This is going to be a slugfest.

Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
HR to a LH Norris Hopper.
Why nibble with 2 outs to a hacker before that?

First major league game?
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Jeff Keppinger gives up another single. That should have been the third out.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
EdE makes it 6-3 with his 24th homerun.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
One of the better swings from Edwin this year. Line drive crushed to CF.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Ramirez throws a 1-2-3 5th inning.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
10 groundouts, 1 flyout for Ramirez. 74 pitches through 5.
He is using 2 pitches and 2 pitches only. Fastball-changeup.

Yep. It's been a decent start so far but I think Ramirez's future is in the bullpen where he can run it up there at 94/95 and use that changeup. I think he could be a very good middle reliever with that two pitch combo.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Phillips caught stealing. Running into more outs.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
I didn't get to see most of the game, can anyone give me a report about how Ramirez has pitched so far?
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Whoa!
Chris is going to shave his 'stache for charity!
Is this the most exciting Reds news of August?

He's looked pretty good. His fastball is around 90-92 and his changeup is very good. He allowed a lead off homerun to Winn after getting squeezed on the previous pitch. In the second inning he retired the first two hitters easily but then walked Burriss and allowed a homerun to Velez. Since then he's been very impressive. I believe he's retired eight straight now.
6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 10 GO/4 FO, 80 pitches.

Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Bruce leads off the bottom of the 6th with a line drive single to LF.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Baserunning blunder by Bruce. Sheesh.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
The Reds take the "fun" out of "fundamentals."
Bruce picked off 2nd.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Between physical and mental errors, and baserunning incompetence....the 'base differential' for unforced errors has to be in the 100's for the Reds, doesn't it?
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Aurilia K's on a nasty changeup to begin the 7th inning.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
And now Ramirez walks Burriss for the second time tonight. Geez. Throw strikes to this guy, he's awful.

True. Think of all the passes he's dropped in his career.
;)
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Velez K's for the second out.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
He pitches to him like his Bonds.....very strange to just lose your stuff to him and then recover like that. Don't know what he is afraid of him with this guy.
He is pitching good besides that.
Welsh just called this the worst baserunning reds team he has ever seen.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Ishikawa grounds out to Votto to end the inning.
Ramirez: 7 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 6 K, 11 GO/4 FO
He's thrown 98 pitches so his night should be over. A very nice major league debut for Ramon Ramirez. Hopefully the bullpen can hold it and get him his first major league win.
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Great to see it. I've liked Ramirez for some time. With his GO/FO ratio he's got a real chance to help this team, more likely in the bullpen probably than as a starter, but who knows?
-
Re: Reds vs Giants 8/30/08
Great outing for Ramirez. Nice to have another solid youngish arm in the fold.
