Tis always been thus.

Maybe not all of us are up to speed on what the proper message board protocol is and instead prefer to act as if we're speaking to a person directly or addressing a group of people directly. It's certainly how I handle posting on here.
Maybe it's because I don't visit other boards. I've been a regular at 2 message boards...EVER. After a while, the people begin to feel like friends and family. I treat them as such. Poking fun most of the time, but being respectful at the same time.
Mike wasn't just ANY other poster. Because of who he rooted for, he caught much more flak on here than the normal person. The fact that he still maintained his dignity and still posted in a respectful manner speaks VOLUMES about his character IMO. And yet he still got a swift kick in the hind parts as he tries to leave peacefully from multiple people. And THAT speaks volumes about the character of some here. Just because a person roots for a certain team doesn't make them a bad person...but they sure do get treated as such by some. Anyway, I'll drop it as it really isn't going to change anybody's opinion I'm sure. Still depressing though.

I don't believe I mentioned you in my original post.

My opinion has nothing to do with him being a cards fan. Like I said in the other thread, I had no problem with Mike.
Let me give an example of what I'm talking about. If my boy Nate, got into a argument about something and decided to leave and made a big deal about him going, I'd have said the exact same thing. Then I'd IM him on Facebook and smack him around and call him names.
I'd probably go steal his dog Gordy too
Re: On the declining quality of the ORG
Would love to see which one of these that thread violated (here's a hint, none):
Board Moderators may, at their discretion and judgment, delete and/or edit any messages that violate any of the following guidelines: 1. Explicit references to alleged illegal or unlawful acts. 2. Graphic sexual descriptions. 3. Racial or ethnic slurs. 4. Use of edgy language (including masked profanity). 5. Direct personal attacks, flames, fights, trolling, baiting, name-calling, general nuisance, excessive player criticism or anything along those lines. 6. Posting spam. 7. Each person may have only one user account. It is fine to be critical here - that's what this board is for. But let's not beat a subject or a player to death, please.

The board has enough rules without adding rules to rules, IMO
That would be fine if this was an isolated occurrence. It's not.

To me, backing up steroid accusations with the following does not constitute "backing up an argument":
1) perceived statistical spikes in performance
2) before/after pictures
3) guilt by association (Molina was in StL when TLR was there and TLR managed a lot of steroid users)
So what, we have to have evidence of him buying steroids or a picture of somebody sticking a needle in his rear end?
Statistical spikes at odd ages and before/after pictures are completely reasonable ground for PED accusations.

I think where we disagree is him making a "big deal" about him going. He posted his opinion and let people know that he was leaving due to it. I see no grandstanding or making a show out of leaving. I see him simply stating his opinion and saying goodbye. I also see a thank you towards Boss and others for welcoming him in the first place. Maybe I'm reading it differently. But regardless, like I said, I probably don't treat message boards like other people do. And I also don't use instant messaging or pm's really.

And I was replying to the post saying that if I had a problem with mike it wasn't you.
Yes I had a problem with Mike. You're the one that joined yourself to the discussion. I didn't bring you in.

This entire conversation is why you don't publicly announce you're leaving. It disrupts the board and turns into a hugs meta discussion.
If someone doesn't like it here, just go.

Fair point. Different strokes I guess.

Personally, I just liked the Steve Martin reference.
