That's rather melancholy... :( Here, I'll make you a new one!!Quote:

I'm pretty sad right now because it's Sunday evening, and I dread the start of the work week. I won't be so sad come Friday. I'm grateful I have a job, but I'm bored literally to tears with no hope of change. My immediate boss doesn't think I'm capable of handling more than the most menial tasks, and I'm forbidden to do anything that might prove otherwise.
If you've read "Bartleby the Scrivener", my job would be appropriate for ol' Bartelby. But I'm just not like that. I have to feel I'm contributing at least my fair share, and usually more, to satify my own standards. I feel like nothing more than a burden right now.
Thanks, SB, for seeing things differently, though.
The best time to find a job is when you have a job. Are you looking?
Sandy, that doesn't sound like a good situation. :( I hope you're looking for something better!
I've tried, but I can't seem to find a good fit. I'm overqualified for the jobs I get an interview for, but underqualified for the rest.
Saw one job advertised today that would be a good place for me. Customer support of a management software package. The only thing I'm missing is the 2-3 years "accounting" experience they are asking for. I can make up for it in other ways, but it means they will have to be willing to take a chance on me.
I will apply, but I don't have much hope. (If I actually get an interview, I'll feel much better.)
Sandy, I have a true story, don't know if it's motivation or not, but I'll tell it anyway.
3 years ago, had a good friend that worked w/ me at a local newspaper. It was my 3rd paper in 3 years, his 2nd in three years, and we were both looking to get out. It was dead end, low pay, high stress w/ little reward.
Anyway, he started looking in Monster.com for all types of writers jobs and others he would qualify for, and did one search a time and clicked the "Other" section in the job search area.
One can back that he'd never seen before. It was working for a blimp company. Out here in Phoenix, there are several companies that fly publicity blimps that use this area as its base to travel all over the country.
He called, got an interview, and got the job working on a blimp crew. He'd always been a big fan of flying, and now, 3 years later, he's still there, now working and training to become a blimp pilot.
I of course, decided to wait it out and was laid off by that same paper just weeks later.
I got my job in a similiar manner. Started in a totally different dept. in my current company, was about to be let go because I was a short term temp, made some good contacts who let me stay on and train. And now I work in a much better environment, making boat loads more than I ever did at my last job.
My point is, job ops can come from random, unforseen places, if you look.
Best of luck though  I wish I had some contacts in the south, but sadly, I don't
I wish I had some contacts in the south myself. Thanks for the success story, and I am trying to be as open-minded as I can. And it's not that I expect a lot. Just a job where a willingness and desire to contribute is appreciated. I'd like to be able to solve a problem once in a while, but that's not necessary.Quote:

Now that sounds like a fun job! :)Quote:

There's a space between the outfield wall and the outer wall of the ballpark. There's a pool and two hot tubs behind right field called the Oasis. It's rented for private parties. At two or three places, the outfield wall is chain link, revealing a mechanical ad that changes from time to time. Someone in that space can be seen from the stands when they walk or run past those ads.
Home run balls sometimes fall into that space. Also, people at the Oasis or the levee drop things that fall there too. No one is supposed to be in that space during the game. After a game, only Zephyrs employees are allowed in there.
One time, a fan wanted to get something a kid had dropped, and snuck in. One of the ushers saw him and ran after him. You can imagine the scene as first the fan then the usher ran behind the chain link segments of the outfield wall. Think Keystone cops chase scene in color.
