Re: Reds/Cubs 9/14/2004 Aurilia 4th again!
What is this fascination with batting Aurilia fourth or even third sometimes? I like Dunn third but Aurilia behind him defeats the purpose. No Kearns either. Oh well. Here's to Keisler on being next seasons Cy Young winner. :beerme:
Re: Reds/Cubs 9/14/2004 Aurilia 4th again!
He wants a Righty between Dunn and Casey and he's simply using bat avg to pick one :runaway:

I'd imagine Kearns is still probably still in Lexington, KY.

KEARNS OUT: Outfielder Austin Kearns missed Tuesday's game. He returned home to Lexington for a personal matter
Oh and I think this about sums up my feelings about the lineup: :bang:

Someone tell Freel to put some superglue in his glove.
;)
Re: Reds/Cubs 9/14/2004 Aurilia 4th again!
If Kearns is there and sitting on the bench, Narron should be reprimanded for playing Freel ahead of Kearns. Freel is simply a zero on offense these days. He needs some time off.
Re: Reds/Cubs 9/14/2004 Aurilia 4th again!
I actually dont have a problem with Aurilia batting clean-up. Let's face it, for all his faults, he's been a VERY good clutch hitter this year (.341/.382/.593 with RISP). And hitting behind Dunn, he should have lots of RISP. I would like to see Kearns in there, but for what we have available, I think this is about as good a line-up as we could see.

I think Kearns is rejoining the team in Pittsburgh on Friday.

They also reported that the Reds fired four minor league instructors. Jim Hickman, the roving batting coach;Sammy Ellis, the roving pitching coach;Rodney McCray(I assume he is not the former University of Louisvile basketball player) who was a roving coach of some sort and the manager of the GCL Reds who's name escapses me,probably because I had never heard of him. So it looks like DanO is taking some of his frustrations out on the minor leagues.
Re: Reds/Cubs 9/14/2004 Aurilia 4th again!
Sammy and Jim have been around this org. for a while.....and the results of the minor leauge players that have been developed....well....it has been very small. I am not surprised they would be gone. Especially Ellis.

Hickman was a Cub, famous for the Ron Santo incident in Durochers days, Ellis the former Red was a pitcher inthe mid 60's McRay is the guy who ran through the wall at Civic Stadium in Portland. If it was the GCL it was Caceres, who managed Potomic last year and was in his 5th year in the the Reds organization
Re: Reds/Cubs 9/14/2004 Aurilia 4th again!
Freel grounds to third on the first pitch, 1 out
Re: Reds/Cubs 9/14/2004 Aurilia 4th again!
Lopez drills one to center, but caught.. 2 out
Re: Reds/Cubs 9/14/2004 Aurilia 4th again!
Dunn knubs one down the third base line but Garciaparra had to go too far to throw him out, single.
