Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns

Hummmm...wonder what would ever give him the idea to do that?

Pujols pops to Hairston...

Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
Patterson steals 2nd and goes to third on a throwing error. Only one out. Need to get this run in.
-
Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
Hanigan grounds to Glaus who throws home and Patterson slides past the tag. 4-3.
-
Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
LaRue single handedly gave the Reds that run. On a pitch out he made a poor throw into center field and then he failed to tag Patterson. The ball beat him there by a mile but LaRue just forgot to tag him.

Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
Patterson is just brain dead. My god! why would you head home on a ground ball hit to 3rd when that is the bag you're standing on?
Just got lucky there. Geez!
-
Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
Patterson goes 160 abs w/o a walk, then get his 2nd in two weeks.

I'm sorry, I blow at posting images. I won't let it happen again.

Patterson's speed played an important part.

he's done that twice recently, but chris just said that he was suppose to be going on contact...it wasn't up to patterson...

Lopez triples. The return of the scrubs.
-
Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
Any chance Arroyo *doesn't* give back that run this inning?
-
Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
Lopez having a good game. Anyone surprised?

It's pretty much standard to send a fast guy from third with one out and force a throw. Stuff happens. Tonight stuff happened.
-
Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
shocking that the reds couldn't wait to give up that run...

Felipe has put on a few libras.

Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
The good news is the Cardinals have an awful bullpen. Of course they'll shut the Reds down...

Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
Arroyo's starting to become one of my least favorite Reds.
-
Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
I can see the Reds trading the farm for scrappylicious Skip Schumaker.
-
Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
It could be 4-4 if Hairston makes a decent throw...

Like Aaron Boone, the guy just punted half a season. It really seems like his concentration lapses depending on the start.

yet he's had a pretty good 2nd half - are you referring to the 1st half?
As a SP I think he's a good innings eater who can be fairly consistent, and give you a lot of QS...maybe I'm missing something but don't mind him at all, very good #3-#4 guy. Great #5 on a rich team.

He's had a terrible season. Surrounding a decent month.

I've personally never used it before. Arroyo has definitely stunk this year for the most part.
-
Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
Bill Bray is a close second behind Arroyo. No pitcher has ever gotten more messes cleaned up for him; no pitcher has ever allowed more starters' runs to score.
-
Re: Reds vs. The Bird: 8/15/08--Hairston Returns
After Pujols doubles, Bray comes in to face Ankiel. He pops out. (2 out)

I'm surprised to see his K rate is right up there with EV, Harang and Cueto.

Goes to show you there's more to pitching than Ks.
