I look at it like this:
I didn't think they were as bad as they were playing for a while. Nor do I think they're quite as good as they're playing now.
I do, believe it or not, like the lineup with Nix or Balentien, Gomes, Stubbs, and then an infield of Votto, Phillips, Janish, Rolen and (preferably) Hanigan. It's not a team that will pound pitchers into submission, but I think there's a little bit of upside there.

No kidding! Not that long ago this team couldn't hit it's way out of a wet paper bag and now they're finding ways to get things done. We lose those two extra inning games even just two weeks ago but they pulled off wins earlier this week. I'm not calling them champions of the world or anything yet but it's nice to see the fire and the hits coming from them this week. :beerme:

I agree. This team is different just with Rolen in there but with the other guys coming around, it helps even more and it's been fun to watch this week.

Wow, the crowd is really giving it to Manny tonight. Good for them. ;)

Yeah, I don't think this lineup would be expected to score that many (on a regular basis) either but they've been productive. Another thing I like is, other than Rolen & Phillips, this is a very cheap lineup.

Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Homer with 2 ks with the splitter tonight. Best that pitch has looked so far, in my opinion.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Homer doing work tonight. He just needs innings against MLB hitters.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Really nice of the Reds to bring some free stuff to that lady who got the beer dumped on her. :)
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Wow, nearly a homer by Corky!
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Another nice inning by Homer. :)
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Considering the competition, this (at least through four innings) has been Homer's best start this season.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Stubbs pops up, Notably on the first pitch.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Only 3 hits, NO walks, and 4 k's in 5 ip so far. I'm impressed. (42 of 63 pitches for strikes too  )
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
OK, that was hilarious! The ball just died in the grass, LOL

Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
The Reds sure are making Billingsley work.

Billingsley after 5 ip: 97 pitches, 3 runs scored
Bailey after 5 ip: 63 pitches, 0 runs scored
Could the winning streak continue?
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Would have been nice to get some two out luck with the bases juiced. Let Billingsly off the hook there.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Would really like a double play here.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
2 on no outs as Homer battles Ethier.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Nice K of Ethier there! :)

Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Big pitch there. Come on kid.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Now let's see Manny get injured.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Those guys screaming right now are SO obnoxious.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Homer gets the K, Manny up with 2 on 1 out.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Alright, which RZer is heckling Manny with the Whoopi Goldberg chant?
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Way to get Manny out there Homer! One more to go. :D
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Very nice. If Homer can escape THIS...color me impressed.

GAC? He's always seemed like a Whoopi fan. Bet he watches the View everyday.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Another big out, can't let up now Homer.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
GO HOMER. Tough inning and he gets out of it. :)
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
That's some maturation right there. The kid's growing up right before our eyes. I like it.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
That's how you do it Homer. Don't give in. Go right at 'em.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Great location on that last pitch to Blake by Homer.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
88 pitches after 6. Two more innings too much?
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Hell yeah!! Homer by Jonny.
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
At least one more inning for Homer but it will depend on how that one goes if he comes back for one more after that one.
JONNY!!!!! :jump:
-
Re: 8/28/09 Reds vs Dodgers
Gomes hits like a major leaguer.
