Bunt fails are frustrating. Cozart K. Lhp former Red Affeldt to face Joey.

Sheesh! I sure hope they find a leadoff CF this offseason.

Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Cozart is still a rookie sometimes.
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
with Phillips on 1st....Pitching to Votto is our advantage...big hole on right side.

You're probably right but not much in the way of options. I actually think this is the best lineup Dusty can roll out there with what he has.

At the same time.... with our bullpen, one run means a whole lot. Not that I am all for bunting or anything, but I can see why with the Reds bullpen, you would call for the bunt late in games more than others.

Feeling a 2B here into the gap in L-CF

I'd agree if The Reds could actually bunt. But they're god-awful at it.

Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Jeremy has been good, but when will they learn you can't do that to Joey. He hits no matter way arm the pitcher uses. I hope.

Agree with the first point. But that wasn't the situation. Opening up a base for Votto means walk, which defeats the purpose.

Another thing could be that we had 4 starters throw 200 innings. They were going deep, getting extra at bats where other teams were using pinch hitters.

Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
how many times have we scored after a sac bunt? is there a stat on that?
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
I like Joey's chances here

An out means a lot with this offense, I guess is what I'm trying to say.

Votto grounds out to 2nd. Phillips avoided the tag somehow.
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Hahaha Brandon is all sorts of awesome.
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Phillips avoided the tag there?
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Wow. No out there?
DatDudeHoudini!

Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Votto with the in intended sacrifice.
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
holy mother of God, BP is AWESOME
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Phillips is just better at baseball than you are.
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Not Joey's night...Phillips is a Stud!
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
That is great. Phillips fell backwards and avoided the tag.

Great play by Phillips there on the bases.
This year, unusually, Joey's OPS against lefties is quite a bit lower than against righties. Over 1.000 against righties, about .880 against lefties.
No slouch against lefties, but this year more damage v. righties.

Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Walking Luddy to pitch to the guy who's 2-3 with a homer and hits lefties pretty well.
I'll take it.
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Intentional walk to Ludwick. Make them pay Jay.
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
You know who can't avoid a tag? 2nd base. No reason to chase BP down there.
-
If Joey could run he'd have been safe too.
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Intentional walk to Ludwick. Bruce's reputation is well known. Prove them wrong, Jay.
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Are they really:confused: walking Ludwick to get to Bruce?
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
For those who whine about BP bare handing the ball aren't you glad he at least knows how to apply a tag?
