Sam LeCure gets the win, and Latos a four inning hold...

Just too hard to go to sleep. Glad tomorrow is Sunday. Big win.

I was heads down in a coloring book for the entire ninth inning. Barely sneaked a peak at the TV. I am 35 years old. Last time we won a playoff game I was 18.

Oh by the way...Cain 0-3 against the Reds this year.
We won't face him again...

I can breathe now.
Holy cow I just got back to the computer and I see 1530 posts in one game thread. Wow! Should I read them all?

Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
No HD on the post game on FSO. Just glad it's on.

An amazing team win. And big props to Dusty and the coaches for cobbling together an amazing pitching performance.

Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
I just want to say in behalf of Drew Stubbs and Dusty... the play Stubbs made going into the gap and returning a strong throw to the infield early in the game is a play Drew Stubbs and very few players in all of baseball make. More often than not a baserunner scores on that ball when there are two outs. It is very much like the "out" pattern a professional qb makes in the NFL, when he can roll in one direction and then throw across his body to complete a pass to a possession receiver to save a game. Very athletic.
Just sayin...

I have to sing at church in the morning, so I can't exactly sleep in and skip, but I don't think I'm going to be able to get to sleep too soon.

Massage, heat treatment, Ice treatment, shock therapy - whatever it takes to get Jonny ready. They're in SF - should be plenty of acupuncture options available.

I remember 1990 being in playoff games (22 years ago) vividly and the one game payoff in 1999, but the 1995 series is a blur. Glad that 2012 starts out good.

Actually, today is Sunday. These late games are gonna kill me. My internal clock has me waking up around 5 am. It'll happen again tomorrow. Ugh! I'll suffer through it, just get me a win boys! :beerme:

If it's a blur, that might just be all of Reggie Sanders' whiffs.

The first series was great, and then the NLCS was a major letdown.

I have to do the same thing. But church is different than work. Many sleep there :). Hope my voice holds out. I was yelling at the TV during the WVU-Texas game and this game. Regardless, I'm happy.
On another note, is it just me or has Dusty lost a lot of weight? He looks bad.

436 ft. on that Bruce bomb according to Hit Tracker, btw. That thing might have won a Toyota at home. :p

Yes I was at the game where they swept the Dodgers in the LDS in 95 but the Braves just totally shut them down in the NLCS

Commentator David Wells won the last Reds playoff victory.

Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Honestly the 2010 NLDS against the Phillies is kind of a blur for me (outside of Game 1) even though I can remember almost everything else about my life from just two years ago.

The rotations according to ESPN:
Oct 7, 2012 CIN (Arroyo) @ SF (Bumgarner) 9:37 PM ET
Oct 9, 2012 SF (Lincecum) @ CIN (Cueto) 5:37 PM ET
Oct 10, 2012 SF @ CIN (Bailey) TBA
Oct 11, 2012 SF @ CIN (Latos) TBA
If they win tomorrow, would you move Bailey up to game three and possibly have a chance to have Jonny and Mat ready for start the NLCS?

Telling Cueto in game 3, "Sweep the leg, Johnny."

I would keep it like it is. If Cueto feels ok I would start him Tuesday. The NLCS does not start until Sunday the 14th anyway.

If Cueto pitches 10/9, and the Reds won, you could go Latos then Cueto in the first 2 games of the NLCS.
Don't know that I risk throwing Bailey at GABP solely to setup the NLCS.

Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
If the Reds don't win another postseason game, tonight was about heroic efforts.
Sam LeCure was a hero tonight. He could not have entered into a more chaotic situation, kept order long enough for Latos to warm up.
Mat Latos was even more heroic. He was loosening as soon as it was clear Cueto was done. He was fired up and ready to go.
Votto made a heroic reflex play on the DP line drive.
Ludwick made two heroic catches.
Broxton made a heroic 3-2 pitch, outside corner at the knees.
BP got a hanger and didn't miss it, but I think his 9th inning single was even more heroic. And that diving stop backing up a play? In honor of Thom, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?"
And for a parting shot--Braves/Cards, that's how you play the game. :p

Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
Stat from twitter:
"@msimonespn: Reds P Aroldis Chapman had 50 K on 100+ MPH pitches in regular season. Everyone else in baseball combined for 52 K on 100+ MPH"
-
Re: NLDS Game 1 - Reds at Giants 10/6/12
I cherish the top of the 9th more than any point of the game because the Reds manufactured a couple runs when they absolutely needed it most. They are going to have to repeat that many more times to get through the remainder of the postseason.
