    Minor League Updates 5/10/13

Billy has his first 2 homers of the year so far in Louisville. Not watching, but it looks like they were both actual homers, not inside the park, and pulled from the left side. Hopefully this can get him going.

Meanwhile, Corcino is still getting hammered.

Louisville trails 6-2 going into the bottom of the seventh.

As noted, Billy Hamilton has homered twice. Hessman has two singles. Soto and Perez have singled. Also, as noted, Corcino struggled to put up an ugly line: 5IP 9H 6R 5ER 3BB 0K.
As I typed this the Bats are rallying. Burriss singled, Ashley walked, Negron singled, Hamilton singled (bunt-third hit of game) and Henry Rodriguez has singled. Bases are loaded and the Bats trail just 6-4. Soto just popped out, runners holding. Perez follows with a line single to left (.305-second hit of game). 6-5 with still only one out.
A new pitcher comes on and strikes out Hessman and Fellhauer to squash that rally. Strike outs are the same as any other out, or so I have been told.
Hensley pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Corcino. Jumbo Diaz, he of the 0.00 ERA, will come in to pitch the eighth. Diaz pitches a scoreless eighth. Christiani surrenders an insurance run in the ninth. Louisville loses 7-5

Buffalo did something interesting. They brought their closer in in the seventh while they were still leading 6-5, bases loaded, one out. He promptly strikes out two Bats. Then he pitches both the eighth and ninth for his ninth save.

Yeah, early on I was only checking in on Lutz, now I don't check at all.

Which reminds me, MiLB has an app now very close to the MLB At Bat App for AAA and AA for those who didn't know.

You know, unless you have Android, in which case they have nothing for you despite there being more Android devices than iOS devices.....

    Pensacola falls 1-0.

Josh Smith started and was excellent, posting a potential MiLPOTD line: 6IP 3H 0R 0ER 1BB 9K. Loek Van Mil hurled two scoreless frames. Josh Ravin picked up the loss by allowing a run in the bottom of the ninth.
The Wahoos could only scrape together three hits. A single by Tucker Barnhart (.301). And two singles by David Vidal. Vidal is hitting .320 in his last 10 games.

Dayton is trailing 2-1 in the middle of the fifth.

    Pedro Diaz has pitched well. 5IP 3H 2R 1ER 2BB 2K.

Dragons have collected five safeties. Singles by Petersen, Ramirez, Gelalich and two by Wagner Gomez.

Dragons' fifth reminded me of little league. Petersen bunt single. Advances to second on passed ball. Ramirez bunt single to first; Petersen scored.
Gelalich bunt into a double play. When the dust settled it was 2-2 after five.

Lansing jumps all over Dayton pitching for four runs in the top of the sixth. Dragons now trail 7-3.

Winker singles, Mejias-Brean doubles. Dayton draws a run closer in the eighth. Now 7-4.

    Bakersfield is hosting Modesto.

Blaze strike for three in third and another run in the fourth and lead 4-zip.

Yorman Rodriguez has a solo blast (5).
In the three-run third, Waldrop and Wright doubled. Yovan Gonzalez was hit by a pitch and Juan Perez contributed a bunt single.

    Jake Johnson looking stellar through five. 5IP 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 2K.

Blaze add another run on a Perez triple and Wright single. Wright has knocked in three on the night. 5-0.
Modesto creeping back into it. Two runs off Johnson in the sixth. A run off of Doyle in the eighth. 5-3.
Juan Perez with his third hit of the night is up to .296.

    Jake Johnson's final line is a very respectable: 7IP 5H 2R 2ER 1BB 6K.

Bakersfield gets that run back in the bottom of the eighth when Yorman Rodriguez singled home Juan Silverio, who had doubled.

El'Hajj Muhammad gets his first save of the season. He hit the first batter he faced and then walked the second. Two strike outs and a caught stealing later and this one belongs to the Blaze by a final margin of 6-3.

Tucker is looking more and more like a decent catching prospect.

The B. Hamilton HRs were both over the fence and were not cheapies. Both were well beyond the fence.

Balersfield won 6-5 on a walkoff homer by Waldrop in the 10th. Waldrop had 2 HRS on the night, went 3 for 4 with a walk. Silverio also had 3 hits, Marquez Smith, 2. Moran threw two scoreless out of the pen and Doyle 1.

Oops, wrong thread. Should have been for May 11. Sorry.
