Schwartzman is doing everything he can. He's made Rafa work for a two set lead. His plan has to be to extend the match as long as possible and hope Rafa runs out of gas.

I am more than a little surprised that Serena didn't take this tournament. She certainly seemed to be steamrolling opponents.
The Serena that was there the rest of the tournament didn’t show up tonight. Maybe it was nerves. The all time record is a big deal.

Serena hasn’t looked like herself in a Slam final since the 2017 Australian Open.
Maybe she hasn’t been at her best. She was certainly not close today. But I’m not sure it was about Serena’s lower level against Osaka last year or Halep at Wimbledon. I’m not sure it would have mattered in those matches. Halep payed one her best ever matches, and IMO, when Osaka is at her best, which she was against Serena, I think she would beat Serena regardless. Osaka is the only one I’d say that about.

I agree. She's going to win a lot of these. The biggest thing we've seen, IMO, is that the moments aren’t too big for her. All 3 tournaments she won this year were big ones.
I think Osaka gets past her current struggles and the 2 of them are going to dominate for a few years.....until Coco Gauff gets to be 18-19 years old.
