Sounds like the flu. He was so sick he could not even keep water down. He was sick before the game and in the middle of the game. It is amazing he was able to pitch that well as sick as he was.

Wonder if Latos loaded the ball up any of that?
Rounding third and heading for home...

The "W" is the important thing.

Thank God Latos was awesome and the defense made some plays. Our offensive gameplan was simply atrocious. We scored only because of wild pitches. The old bass ackwards be aggressive on the guy who can't repeat his motion and has walk issues.

"He has trouble throwing strikes and he's going to be trying to get ahead and we need to jump on him and hit that first pitch" That pitcher was missing by feet, wild pitch, wild pitch, wild pitch. He had no control but our swinging early allowed him to go SEVEN innings giving up 1 run.

This win was despite whoever made the offensive gameplan.

    Thank God for Latos.
While I'm sure there is some form of discussion containing suggestions of how to approach a pitcher, you seem to be expecting a comprehensive gameplan that sounds more like football than how things work in baseball. It sounds good when Welsh says it, but I'm not real sure that teams go up there with comprehensive, tailored hitting strategies on a day to day basis, e.g. "lay off first pitch," "take him the other way," etc. The game is too random for that type of strategery.
"Rounding 3rd and heading for home, good night everybody"

Don't care what Welsh says at all.

It's the crap that will lose playoff games.

Saw 49 pitches in innings 2 and 3....4 walks (3 on 4 pitches and 1 on 5), 3 wild pitches.

So what do we do in innings 4-7?? 8 pitches, 12 pitches, 5 pitches, 8 pitches....including 0-5 on 1st pitches making a total of 6 outs. Just an idiotic plan if there was even a plan. 33 pitches in 4 innings AFTER the pitcher proved to be a nightmare for control. In their 2nd 3rd at bats no Reds player saw more pitches than Mat Latos.

Their bullpen was shot from the night before and that pitcher never should've touch the 5th inning, let alone go 7.
