Wonder if Latos loaded the ball up any of that?
Rounding third and heading for home...
While I'm sure there is some form of discussion containing suggestions of how to approach a pitcher, you seem to be expecting a comprehensive gameplan that sounds more like football than how things work in baseball. It sounds good when Welsh says it, but I'm not real sure that teams go up there with comprehensive, tailored hitting strategies on a day to day basis, e.g. "lay off first pitch," "take him the other way," etc. The game is too random for that type of strategery.
"Rounding 3rd and heading for home, good night everybody"
Don't care what Welsh says at all.
It's the crap that will lose playoff games.
Saw 49 pitches in innings 2 and 3....4 walks (3 on 4 pitches and 1 on 5), 3 wild pitches.
So what do we do in innings 4-7?? 8 pitches, 12 pitches, 5 pitches, 8 pitches....including 0-5 on 1st pitches making a total of 6 outs. Just an idiotic plan if there was even a plan. 33 pitches in 4 innings AFTER the pitcher proved to be a nightmare for control. In their 2nd 3rd at bats no Reds player saw more pitches than Mat Latos.
Their bullpen was shot from the night before and that pitcher never should've touch the 5th inning, let alone go 7.
