Now, let's get Joey on - bunt him over; then pinch hit Corky Miller for Bruce.
Can't PH Corky because Hanigan and then Meso might get hurt and then we wouldn't have a catcher.

Interesting Mattingly didn't call for a lefty to face JV. Hope Joey pops one here.

Or, gets on with a walk....

Hey guys, I wonder if Kershaw has battled tonight...ya know, if he's a real battler...'cause no one on the broadcast team has mentioned whether he's battled or not. Just wondering!

BTW: Soto against lefties this year in AAA: .324/.375/.525 for an OPS of .900...

"Those numbers don't tell the whole story for Kershaw tonight..."

Since when is 7 IP of 2 ER ball a letdown? Yea, he's ridiculously good but even the best give up a few earned runs now and then. These guys are acting like he's never given up a run in his career until tonight.

Of course Soto's last 1000+ plate appearances in AAA over the past two years should have been enough to tell them that without experimenting during a division race.

Would make a tiny bit of sense if there still was not something at stake.
To be fair, Soto hit .324/.375/.525 with 7 HR against LHPs at AAA this year. Of course, Kershaw is not quite a AAA pitcher. Not saying I agree with it, just trying to come with a possible explanation.

Neftali Soto (last 2 seasons in AAA):

    1025 PA
    .725 OPS

If you are that desperate for a RH bat from AAA, give Crash Hessman a shot.

I think it was an in-game tryout for Soto.
