Not being sarcastic at all, I think it's a fair expectation for a team like the Reds.

    No?
Totally fair expectation to have. Generally dumb expectation for someone on the team to articulate to media or fans. Underpromise and overdeliver is nearly always the best way to go for any organization.

Rolen was 5-27 with 1 walk and 12 strikeouts in the playoffs for the Reds. No extra base hits. 1 RBI.

    - save the pen arms
    - rest most starters, especially BP obviously, tomorrow
    - start Reynolds
    - use Duke in long relief and let whatever cards fall where they may
    - start Billy not just to spell Choo
    - start Billy to also better inform whether he might play Tuesday
    - travel to Pittsburgh tomorrow after the game
    - take Monday off
    - beat the pants of Pittsburgh Tuesday afternoon since I'm guessing that's when that game will be scheduled
Agreed. I'd even throw Chapman in the 9th today just to keep him ready.

Except when he gets rattled, as in 10th inning Game 3, 2012 NLDS.

I'd start Leake tomorrow to keep him warm in case he's needed in the playoffs.

Have Cueto backing up Latos on Tuesday.

Hamilton tomorrow? Minority view, I wouldn't risk injury to him. He's on my playoff roster.

Why not a night game Tuesday? The AL game is Wednesday. I expect a night game but who knows.

In terms of earning the fans' trust -- not just the diehards but the general fan base -- consider what Reds fans have been through. Humiliated in 2010, out of it in 2011, a historic collapse in 2012. The fans wondering, is this team getting better or worse? We know they can contend, but what direction are they going?

the players who play good in big games are usually good players => yeah I like the idea to get someone like this... the question is if someone is available for the right prize...

weŽll see next year a different team, some bench players should go.. choo and arroyo wonŽt be there and I donŽt like the idea of billy hamilton as every day guy without a plan b

I wouldn't have signed Rolen, he's such an injury risk there's no point.

And I wouldn't sign a veteran as a club house guy.

But the team needs some battle tested players for big games.

I like Dusty too, but I believe in term limits for baseball managers.

OK, maybe not a good example. The old situational vs. cumulative again.

According to Matty V., Miguel Cairo has surfaced on deck.

As positive as I usually am, I'm never optimistic about how we'll be treated by MLB and national media. Remember last year's weekday afternoon LDS games?

We don't know but I'll be very surprised if the powers-that-be put AL in the afternoon and give Reds/Bucs the primetime billing. That said, hope they do since it'd make my travel a bit easier.

How about savor every good season, and hope for the best in the playoffs? A good franchise should stay competitive for many years. No need to ever place all the pressure on one single season.

Both Wild Card games will be at 8:00 no matter who is playing.

They will be the only games going on on each individual day, thus the primetime slot.

Echoing what most Reds fans were thinking in 1974.

Poor fielding, too, as I recall.
