Four of the eleven records were broken or tied in 2014:
- Captain Hook became the first team to break the century mark in Wins. His 100 wins broke Vada Pinson Fan's record of 96 wins in 2010.
- Mbgrayson set a new record with 1417 Strikeouts, breaking the old mark of 1400 set by Atomic Dumpling last year.
- Captain Hook's 2.83 ERA was much better than the previous record, which was the 3.08 ERA posted by Iowa Red in 2011.
- Captain Hook also set a new record with a 1.08 WHIP. The old record of 1.12 was set in 2011 by Bumstead and matched by reds1869 in 2013.
Additional observations:
- All of those new records were on the pitching side of the ledger, reflecting the phenomenon of lower scoring that we see in real baseball.
- Three of the new records were set by Captain Hook, so we can safely say that his pitching staff was the best ever in the League of Reds Nation. Well done Captain!
- Atomic Dumpling's 2.94 ERA this year broke the old record but was not as good as Captain Hook's 2.83.
- Nobody even came close to breaking any of the hitting records this year
- This was the first year that none of the hitting records were broken.
Which records are the most and least likely to fall next year? In my opinion the Home Run record is the least likely to be broken. It is a tough call for the most likely to be broken. I would say it is going to be a pitching record, probably ERA is my guess. What do you guys think?
