    Take a 4.00 ERA league. A 3.00 ERA is a 133 ERA+ (4/3) and a 2.00 ERA is a 200 ERA+ (4/2). That’s just misleading.
In terms of ERA-, it’s 75 and 50, which is consistent.

There's no difference in accuracy, they're just inverted. It would be akin to .85 and -0.85 in correlation. They would each correlate the same since their proportions are consistent going both ways.

One just sounds more sensible to use.

    Math, dude. Math.
If it's so simple a child can understand it, I'm not sure why you're unable to grasp there's no difference in accuracy. They're on a different scale but they're proportionately the same. They achieve the exact same thing except one is scaled to sort in A-Z and the other Z-A.

Say league ERA is 4.00 for math's sake. You have four players:

    2.00
    3.00
    5.00
    6.00

    Their ERA- are respectively:

    50
    75
    125
    150

    And their ERA+ are

    200
    133
    80
    67

Now run correlation and you'll find they correlate exactly the same except in inverse of one another. The order doesn't change. They are still 'ranked' exactly the same way, but inverse. No matter which one you use, their ranking 1, 2, 3 & 4 is EXACTLY the same but in reverse. Thus, there is literally no difference in "accuracy."
