This season is starting to feel like its slipping away. The next 14 days could make or break the Reds in 2014.
"This isn’t stats vs scouts - this is stats and scouts working together, building an organization that blends the best of both worlds. This is the blueprint for how a baseball organization should be run. And, whether the baseball men of the 20th century like it or not, this is where baseball is going."---Dave Cameron, U.S.S. Mariner
Your post over who's better than who over the course of a season has nothing to do with the Reds ability to win or lose today.
Or is Cody Asche the best player in baseball now because of his numbers the last 2 days?
For one game...or one series, the absence of a position player makes very little difference.
What was Broxton doing there? Why move at all? He's certainly not going to catch it.

Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

Wow, this team is really beg. to become incredibly difficult to watch. To be honest, I have kept my optimism up to a relatively decent level up until today. But I just don't know now. Getting blown out 2 games in a row by the Phillies has really dampened that optimism for me. Hopefully, I'm just really bumming out and this is just a passing reaction to what has been 2 incredibly horrible games...but with all of the injuries, so many players struggling with their offense and that downright atrocious bullpen of late? It's getting harder and harder to continue holding out any realistic hope for this season. I will continue to watch the games (as always - I'm a former heroin addict - when I got clean, baseball became a HUGE part of my new lifestyle - so I will ALWAYS continue to watch, even if they continue to be abysmal. It just bums me out a good bit is all). As well, I will continue hanging out to at least some shred of optimism, at the very least, up until the All-Star Break. Even in seasons past which were worse than this 2014 season, I still forced myself to hang on to my optimism until the half-way point. Baseball is a very difficult game - it's a game of streaks, both the good and the bad. I have seen teams whom were dead in the water rise up seemingly like some Lazarus and go on some pretty hellacious tears/streaks. I shall hold out hope that the same will soon begin happening for the Reds. Oh - and how GREAT is 'Rocco thus far this season? And Billy? He has absolutely exceeded my expectations for him, thus far, this season. After cleaning myself up from the heroin addiction, I had to essentially "reprogram" my way of thinking, so to speak. I had always been a fair bit negative and you almost HAVE TO begin thinking in a positive manner if you do, indeed, desire to STAY clean (and I do indeed have that desire). So lets hope that some of these injured guys get back, stay healthy and play well. Until then? Lets hope that the Reds can begin to, at the very least, hold things together and play a little bit better ball in the coming weeks. And lets REALLY hope that this bullpen mess will sort itself out very very soon.
(Sorry for the long msg. in a game thread guys)...
