Are you guys trying to tell me Winker won't OPS 1.000 in the Southern League?
Because you guys are crazy if you think he won't.
Robert Stephenson, who has the best God-given pitching talent the Reds have seen in a generation, is not having an excellent season at AA. 3.99 ERA. 1.31 WHIP. He is 21 years old. Last season he walked 35 men in 114 innings. This season he has walked 38 men in 70 innings. He has time. But I think you can make the argument that his "prospect-rank-ness" has taken a hit this season, perhaps only marginally one may argue. I know his arm is a golden one.
I am not wanting to slight him, as if I could pick one player to keep from the farm, it would be him, here today. But (just my opinion), if Winker shows up in AA and performs well...I may give a different answer then.
Stephenson is one of only two pitchers in the league that is under 22 years old and has more than 15 innings pitched. That he is having some games where he struggles should be a surprise to no one. He is also pitching in an incredibly HR friendly home ballpark. He has some funny splits. He has allowed 6 homers at home and one on the road, but he has 27/20 K/BB on the road and 46/18 at home.
