A point spread is how much the team that is favored by Vegas to win the game needs to win the game by.

Easier usually just to show an example.

Oregon is favored to win by AT LEAST 12 points (+11) against Michigan St. So if you bet Oregon to win the game and they win by 12 points or more you would win your bet. If they won by 1-10 points (say 34-28) then even though Oregon won, you would lose the bet.

On the opposite side, if you bet Michigan St at -11 then if they win the game outright you would win obviously, but even if they lose the game, as long as the point difference is 10 points or less you would still win the bet. Example: Oregon 38 Michigan St 28, you would still win your bet.

If it ended exactly at 11 point difference then it is a push and Vegas celebrates.

Hope that at least gives you an idea on how it works.

Thanks for the info. I don't gamble at all so that's why I rarely pay attention and never learned anything about the spread for betting.

And just for the record, I still think Oregon wins and guess that it will be by more than 11 points (I'm probably wrong but oh well, LOL).

Alright - keeping with tradition - because if you will all remember (which I can't most of the time), we missed the first week the last two years because of me and my brilliant, analytic mind .... here's the week 2 schedule. And as usual, I try to pick the most competitive match-ups; but we all know how hard that is with all the cupcake games the first few weeks (LOL).

NOTE: I selected Michigan State @ Oregon as the Game Of The Week - which means we'll play the point spread on that game. But they haven't come out with the spread yet for any games in week #2; but as soon as they do I will post it. I'm not a gambler, but does anyone know what day they normally come out with those? Because I may have to adjust WHEN I post each week's schedule according to when they come out with them. But at the same time I don't want to wait too long, going into the next week, to do so in order to give people time to analyze/make their picks. Some adjustment may have to be made here (LOL).

OK. Here are Week #2 results. I didn't get a chance to watch any games Saturday due to Honda's annual Family Day at Cedar Point. Looking at some of the outcomes, I'm glad I was riding coasters. While it is still very early, I'm not too impressed with the Big Ten so far (8-5 this week). And you all know the routine .... even though I double check everything, please keep an eye on me and take the time to check my math because I've been known to have brain farts (LOL).

That's correct. Just do the math. If it says -2.5 then that means you subtract 2.5 points from Georgia before figuring the winner.
