Give me a bat...I am 62, have cataracts in both eyes, bad knees, and I bet I could hit Holmberg....unless he hit me first. How do the Reds consider him as a possible major leaguer.

The Reds need the Little League mercy rule tonight. Here comes Villareal. Gasoline meet fire.

They're probably not considering him a major leaguer at this point, but they wanted to see what they had and now is the perfect time for that sort of thing. They got him for a 34 year old catcher hitting .212/.309/.327 and that is actually up from Hanigan's last season with the Reds.

Price has to be breathing a huge sigh of relief...no 1-run loss tonight.

agree he was likely worth the cost -- but then there was little cost

I don't know what really prompted the Reds to think Holmberg would perform particularly well at the major league level. He just turned 23 and still hasn't figured out how not to get pounded at AAA.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Boy, the Louisville Bats really suck this year.

You are seriously mentioning this Holmberg guy and Ryan Hanigan in the same sentence? Would have been better off just giving Ryan away.
