Imagine this: Adam Sandler is the Joker.
It is on the whole probable that we continually dream, but that consciousness makes such a noise that we do not hear it. Carl Jung.

The Irishman is incredible. If this is the last movie that Scorsese and DeNiro make together (and it probably is), what an amazing film to go out on.

Impossible. That would imply that he is funny.

I enjoyed it, but I liked it better when it was first released with the title “Goodfellas” or the second time when it was titled “Casino”.

If you make the same movie with the same actors playing the same characters over and over again, can you call it “cinema?”

Hot take: films by ‘70s prestige directors are just the MCU for dudes with grey goatees and ponytails.

I mean, are there similarities? Sure. But it's done in a much different style with a much different focus. Plus, there is nothing in Goodfellas or Casino that's like the last hour or so of The Irishman.

Not going to spoil anything, but neither of those earlier movies are the same thematically as The Irishman.

That's why I haven't bothered to watch it, I watch the trailer and I think of 200 other movies those same guys were in that they played the same parts.

I'm sure I'll watch it eventually though. I thought similar things about the Departed, and told my buddies going into it the only way this is going to be good if everyone dies, sure enough they did and I loved it.

The Irishman is fantastic. It’s long and I’m glad I got to watch it on my couch, but basically everything about it is top notch.

Only complaint about The Irishman was the aging they did with CGI. Bob DeNiro didn't look like a 20-24 year old GI digging a grave. Not even close. They should have just chosen younger doubles for those sorts of flashbacks.

    But otherwise, great movie.

Some people I know complained about how long The Irishman is, but these are the same people who tell me about binge watching an entire season of a show in one day.

Yeah I felt this too. When Russell was helping Frank fix is car and called him ‘kid’ I thought there was no way to tell how old Frank was meant to be. They looked the same age.

Has anybody seen De Niro as Louis in "Jackie Brown"? One of my favorite characters of his honestly. Very underrated film.
