'A Star is Born' is an excellent film, I definitely foresee Cooper getting at least one Oscar nod (screewriter, director, starring actor).

And if you like it, I suggest you watch the one of the earlier makes as comparisons, the 1976 version starred Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. The 1954 version starred Judy Garland and the 1937 original starred Janet Gaynor.

Saw Bohemian Rhapsody tonight. Rami Malek is going to win the Best Actor Oscar. That said, everything else about the film is pretty meh, save the concert scenes, and a delightful in-joke with Mike Myers and the titular song.

This is kind of disappointing. I am hoping to be able to see it this week. You're the second person I've seen that has said something similar to this and I'm just hoping you're both wrong. I was really looking forward to it.

Anybody going to see "Free Solo"?

I need to find a theater, quick, before it goes away.

Well, I wasn't, but now I might if I can find it around here.

He was on Joe Rogan's podcast in the last two weeks. Interesting dude.

If he is an athlete, he is the best of all time in anything.

Did you see where they do a brain scan on him? And that place where we fear stuff, he is just blank.

It's not an important historical work or anything, but watching Bohemian Rhapsody was an incredibly entertaining 2:15.

No joke, my heart is pounding just watching the trailer.

It will be interesting to see what "band pics" are copied from Bohemian Rhapsody. BR pretty much made a cookie cutter movie (entertaining!) that will be easy to replicate.

The new Papillion is good, albiet slow at times, but not nearly as good as the original.

I really liked this movie. If you are someone that is super precious about music or total and complete accuracy you probably won’t like the movie. If you are someone that enjoys being entertained, seeing a good story with a phenomenal lead actor performance all while listening to Queen music, you will like this movie.

Just to add the best actor race this year is going to be awesome. There isn’t a clear front runner for the first time in forever. Rami Malek, Bradley Cooper, Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling and likely Mahershala Ali (he might end up Supporting) will be the nominees.

I saw both the Queen movie and the LadyGaga movie. The Queen movie was fun - it was pure entertainment, Malek was decent (the fake teeth were a bit offputting at first). The best part of the movie was the actors playing the rest of the band.

I hated a Star is Born. I had a hard time believing that an alt-country musician could be as popular as the Cooper character was supposed to be. I love Jason Isbell, (who wrote a song for the movie) but no one is thinking about putting him on the Grammys. Further, Cooper's grumbly voice bothered me as well and the story was the same as the previous Star as Borns- I'd have rather seen something that surprised the audience. I did like Lady Gaga, she's the best part of the movie.

In a just world, Ryan Adams would be the country's biggest superstar. Alas, there is no just world.

btw, having not seen the movie, I assume I'm not getting what you're saying about the Grammys. Jason Isbell's a perennial winner in the "lesser" categories, so I'm assuming this means something more.
