Ugh. Not a good day for the Bats. Suarez and Yorman back on the interstate, and a shaky (although not terrible) start from Iggy.

Tigers fans must think they assaulted the Reds with that Alfredo Simon trade. Time will tell though. It's very early.

9 pitches and 4 outs of Arrieta so far. Reds looking to make this a quick one too.

“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

What's the story on Arrieta's improvement over the past 2 years? He was nothing special before that.

At least Boesch made Arrieta throw more than 1 pitch

They hit him pretty decently last time out. I don't remember if they were more patient or not.

#Reds are 1-6 this season when Joey Votto does not have multiple hits. They are 0-5 when he is held hitless.

Reds got what they wanted from the Simon trade, financial relief and a return for an impending free agent.

If one looks at his BB rate, GB rate, and K rate it should be obvious that Simon can be effective, particularly with a good defense behind him.

But this off-season was all about money, which should be patently obvious and there's more to come along those lines IMO.

Don't tell that to Thom or Marty, they will blame him for not doing more while ignoring everyone else as the issue.

I see how the local press is now saying Iglesias and Lorenzen for the bullpen.

But I'm not sure they address that these guys are being trained to fill starting spots that are
highly likely to be open soon. And are not experienced minor league starters and need work.

The guy I see for a possible promotion is Contreras.

I think they need to build up Lorenzen. Iglesias will be 26 next year. He can relieve this year and add some innings in Winter Ball. The 30 inning or less jump isn't as big a deal with a 26 year old as it is with a 22 year old. Get him 65 or 70 innings in the pen, get him 8 to 10 starts this winter 50 innings or so) and let him prepare as a starter in Spring Training. I don't really see a problem to be honest. If he was 21, I'd see a huge problem. He's older and it's a non-issue IMO.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
