I don't think Walt will prioritize this season over the future, particularly with starting pitching. He already has a hole in the rotation and expects more soon. He needs ready in house replacements.

So it is wait out until AS Break. Enjoy the festivities and start the rebuild then if they tread .500? It is depressing but it is what it is, just not fun to enjoy. With the WC for the taking at maybe 85-88 wins, I do not think most teams will see themselves as out of anything....including the Reds.

Maybe it's time to quit making fun of the Cubs. We're about to be 1-4 against them. They've out pitched and out hit us.

Could we have gotten Joe Madden?

Walt has also said, after the Friday game I think that there is no one they have in house who they feel is ready to be brought up. That is depressing.
Contreras has 13 strikeouts and 2 walks in 7 innings so far. Not sure how that is a mirage. Is he only facing pitchers?

Not with Price firmly in command with a contract.

I just wondered if he was available when Dusty was let go?

Just writing what Doug said on his site. He said numbers were not as good as it looked. He watches these guys more than I do. I hope he is wrong obviously.

I don't think I have been more disappointed in two players coming in then Byrd and Badenhop since Woodie Fryman and Dale Murray in 1977.

Nope, he was coming off an ALDS appearance in 2013 with Tampa.

Gregg warming up. Price is insane.

If the Reds don't score here this is the perfect spot for Gregg.

I will no longer try to figure out why the bullpen is being utilized the way it is. There has to be something crazy going on behind the scenes causing it.

I propose a trade. Gregg, Badenhop, Byrd, Price and Jockety as well as cash for Joe Madden.
