Double header and Cueto is a horse. I have no prob with asking him to go 120 pitches to get a stress free 9th and a CG to save everyone for the 2nd game, that's what your ace does. I just didn't like it with how long the top of the inning went, and that it set up an ideal situation for one of our terrible pitchers to come in and give up their standard 4 runs on their way to 3 outs.

But I'm not gonna go all in on Price for making a horrible decision. Cueto is your guy, if he says he wants to go back out you let him go back out. He's earned that trust over the years. Didn't work out, but it's not like it woulda been surprising if he came out and had a 1-2-3 eight pitch 9th.

Price over thinks everything. He got spooked with the idea of a second game staring him in the face so his solution was to send JC back out there and save his great bullpen. So he ends up using Hoover anyhow when he could have sent Badendope or Gregg pr Pedro V with a 10-1 lead. . Unbelievable.

I don't really get what you are arguing.
Say Price does what you wished for and puts Gregg in, and he gives up 3 runs in the 9th of a blowout game. You'd still be complaining.

"Arrrrgh idiot. Arrrgh Arrrrgh Arrrrgh" For the love of peanuts, the negativity on this board, particularly the game threads, is frightening.

Now really...later. Too many of you are too angry for me.

At that point you use whoever can get warm the fastest and isn't named Aroldis Chapman.

Its not a question of trust. Pedro Martinez said the other night that the pitcher should always
ask to stay in the game. In a situation like this you never ask your pitcher how he feels, you take him out. You don't think twice. A ridiculous decision.

Managers trusting their top tier pitchers is nothing new. I have to believe Cueto and Price have built up a good relationship over the several years they've been together, and if Cueto lied to him a lot he'd know it. I'm not cool with trusting Desclafani or Lorenzen, but if it's Cueto I'm cool with it.

But like I said, I'd have rather used up Badenhop when the top of the 9th took forever and we had a 9 run lead.

I don't think anyone would be blaming PRICE for using Kevin Gregg in a 10-1 game.... UNLESS he left him in there so long they gave the lead away. Which he almost did in Milwaukee amd Badenhop a while back.

If Price had used Gregg in this game with a 10-1 lead and Gregg did his usual thing and made a 10-5 game, people would be blaming that on Walt.
