Jay Bruce would get the rest of the month if I were in charge, if no improvement, he'd quickly see a sharp decline in his playing time.
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.

The worst part is we ran his pitch count up without scoring. Need Timmy to stay in this game for a while, we'll score some runs off him

Thom Brennaman and this cameraman consistently make me think every fly ball hit is a homer. SHOW THE FIELDER.

Also, that was an 86 mph meatball right down the pipe, and Jay Bruce has warning track power. Yikes.

As much as it's not what was needed there, I'd much rather see him hit the ball to that spot every at bat rather than strike out. Nice to see him make some SOLID contact.

Agreed. But the Bruce I remember didn't hit warning track shots. He hit them into the bleachers. He's always struck out a ton, but at least hit the ball far enough when he did connect that the strike outs didn't matter as much.

Bruce with warning track power is rather useless.

That's a good point. Perhaps I should rephrase to "If he replaced the extra strikeouts he has had this year, even for him, with that type of contact I would be happy". I don't want everything hit there, but if I could choose a hit to the warning track or a strikeout, I'd take the contact every time (so long as his power remains for other at bats).

You already talked about 2012; how many more times must you bring it up?
