Thanks for posting...good to know. At this stage of the game and with what the Reds have to work with, it makes sense to give Boesch a look for a handful of games in a row to gauge what he can do...if anything. It really is a what-do-you-have-to-lose situation.

The injury explains it, but it makes no sense to have him on the roster as the backup OF, if you aren't going to use him when an OF gets hurt.

Also, he's not garbage. This is his career slash line from over 1500 PA's: .253/.306/.405/.712, with solid defense.

Not starting material, but a solid back up, and definitely not garbage.

Sure, but that includes the year he crushed the ball in detroit like 6 years ago. What has he done the last 3 years?

So he should start but he's not a starter. I got soul, but I'm not a soldier.

Until Rocco is ready I'd just assume use DeJesus.

Boesch is the only true OF, who has experience starting in the OF for a MLB team. It kinds seems like an obvious choice. Why would you want to play a guy out of position?

He is officially listed as day-to-day with a "hurt whatever or something who cares."

3 hard hits against Leake, 1-0 bad guys. Not fooling anyone except Utley, go figure.

I thought a hotel in Louisville would carry Fox Sports Ohio, but I was wrong.

Thanks, Louisville! I still like your bourbon.

Reds tie it back up. It looks like Leake forgot his adjustments and it not exactly unhittable.

Because Price wants another right-handed bat in the lineup against Hamels, and he doesn't want to go with Negrón.

And Schumaker is also a natural OF with starting experience in MLB.

Look, I don't think it's a great situation, either. I would rather have an actual right-handed OF on the bench, but when you have a 13-man pitching staff and only four bats on the bench (one of which is a catcher, and another which is a SS) then your choices are limited.

If he's healthy, I wouldn't be surprised to see Boesch start tomorrow against a righty.
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.
