Remember about 19 hours ago when we thought we might actually take another 2 of 3 from the Cardinals?

Today's "Joe Nuxhall Star of the Game" is Cardinals RHP Michael Wacha, who pitched 7 innings allowing no runs on 4 hits with 6 K's and 2 BB's in earning the win.

Order in the universe has been restored: reds lose another series to STL.

I'm bitter not because the Reds didn't draft Wacha, but because all of the reports at the time were that Wacha would basically be a major league ready innings-eater like Mike Leake. And while there was obvious value in a player like that, the Reds already had a stacked rotation and it made sense to pass on him in favor of a high school player with a possibly higher ceiling down the road.

So of course the Cardinals take Wacha and it turns out, surprise, he throws even harder than they thought and he's an ace. Because of course.

Walt doomed the Franchise for-ev-er when he picked Travieso instead of Wacha- I know because there was that guy that kept posting so in the minor league forum.
Between Travieso and Wacha we also had the selections of Giolito and Corey Seagar.
Lots of good names in that draft and it is hard to complain with getting Travieso and Winker in the 1st round.
