Didn't Skip get the go ahead hit when the Reds won the other night?

“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I don't think Skip can still hit.

But always annoys me when the blame goes to the bench guy.

Some big money guys haven't been exactly lighting things up.

Bruce is garbage this month and Frazier has been garbage-ish for the last two. Skippy has been garbage for 2 years.

The lack of offense has definitely been a team effort.....

Chapman in for his once a week performance.

But it's not a save situation.

Chappy sitting 'only' at 95-96 so far. And now 94 to walk Turner.

    Not looking good.

The notion that Jay Bruce has had a one-month problem shows the exact issue I'm raising. This is a guy whose earned well over $20MM over the last two years, has had a couple of good months altogether, yet his issues are dramatically understated.

Skip Schumaker is a minor player on this team. That he gets so much criticism shows how Reds fans can't let go of their beloved "stars".

I've disagreed with this notion in the past and I still disagree with it. I understand expecting more out of the bigger/better paid stars. I don't understand trying to blunt criticism of guys like Schumaker or Kevin Gregg or Jason Marquis because "he's not the biggest problem". A bad player is a bad player.

His issues are that he had a miserable 2014, predominantly caused by injury, and was having a very good year until turning into garbage in the month of August. It's pretty simple, and not dramatically understated. He (and Frazier as well) has been very lousy.

Criticism should be proportionate to expectations and role. Around here I don't think it always is.

Reds fans have been hammering Bruce since 2008. On Redszone it's about split. The gist if what I'm getting from this debate is that you want more 'Bruce sucks' posts.

Skip is a decent backup, but he should be the 25th man on the roster. The problem is how often he's used. He should almost never start.
