Can the 7th and 8th inning guys hold the 3 run lead until Chapman comes in?
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I don't think so, probably Hoover or Parra.

Does Skip really? And yet the Reds are ranked 25th in baseball in pinch hitting with a .187 AvG with the 9th most PH-ABs (35-187)

He gives up a leadoff HR to Braun

I have had enough of JJ Hoover for one lifetime.

Someone play devil's advocate for me and explain why you would not put Chapman in against the 3, 4, and 5 hitters in the 8th, and let Hoover pitch the 9th?

I'm not being sarcastic. I really want to understand the thought process.

I guess because the of the save statistic being coveted by each reliever for fiduciary reasons.
