Finnegan strikes out Santana in a big spot on pitch 59.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I would have thought the cap for Finnegan's pitches would be 60, but he's over that now. Bryan probably trying to teach one of his trademark lessons.

Finnegan is not giving up solid contact his second time through the order. Batters seem right on his pitches but he's got enough movement that they can't quite square them up. I hope that trend continues.

Finnegan strikes out Herrera to end the 4th.

4 innings, 2 hits, 2 walks, 3 strikeouts, 1 run. Looked pretty good.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Very nice job by Finnegan. Three Ks that inning.

LOL, yeah I guess this is one of Price's lessons. We'll see if Finnegan comes back out in the fifth. But he did a nice job.

Okay, I'm starting to believe. I've been thinking of Finnegan as a future closer, but if he can develop as a starter, that's a Good Thing.

First game thread in months. With Finnegan starting thought I would stop by and see what was going on. I'd say he did pretty well.

I'm in Florida so I can't watch the game, but why do you guys think he's on a pitch count? Wasn't he a starter this season in the minors?

This may sound silly, but I genuinely like what Jay Bruce has done 2nd half. People may not agree l, but I think Jay knew we were out of it. I think Jay has spent this entire 2nd half trying to improve his oppo field hitting (which he has, of sorts) for the future. I like Jay and want him to stay on this team. I think he's tried to improve himself in a season he knew was gone. Thoughts?

Just since the trade. He's still being stretched out.

He was jerked around by KC and never got established as a starter.

He's still in, and gives up a leadoff double.

Sac bunt by the pitcher moves the runner to third with one out. Finnegan at 70 pitches now.
