Joan Baez and Joan Jett are in though
When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.

There's a name I haven't heard in a few years. I owned a couple of her albums back when I lived in Australia in the early eighties, two or three lifetimes ago.

Finally the Moody Blues get nominated.

I could have sworn the Meters were in. (Although there's no way should ever get in without a ticket)

    Wow, eclectic ballot.

First the obvious, Radiohead gets in. I suspect the J. Geils Band has a serious chance in the wake of Geils' recent death. There is no good argument against the Cars. They should have been in the second they became eligible. That makes me nervous about their chances here. Why should the voters be any smarter than they have been during the previous 15 years? Dire Straits played stadiums and sold a bajillion records. Bon Jovi did the same, and at some point they need to make peace with hair metal.

I question Nina Simone's nomination, because she was a jazz singer, but she's a music industry giant, so maybe she's getting in.

Judas Priest ought to be in. Black Sabbath may have invented heavy metal, but Priest established it. The twin guitar attack, the gay bondage fashion sense, the operatic vocals (though you could argue Rob Halford cribbed that off Freddy Mercury). Priest and the Cars are two of the HOF's most glaring omissions. LL Cool J probably has a serious chance, though there's probably a dozen rap acts that deserve to be in before him. Rage gets in if it's my call, though I will be surprised if they make the cut. Then again, Tom Morello has done a whole bunch of induction speeches for other bands.

Amazing to see two garage rock contenders - Link Wray and the MC5. If you know rock'n'roll history, Wray really deserves recognition. Also interesting to see three Brit new wave acts - Depeche Mode, the Eurythmics and Kate Bush. I'd prefer Joy Division, the Jam, Echo, Siouxsie, the Smiths and New Order, but it's nice to see the HOF finally start to take notice and it would be kind of awesome to see "Just Can't Get Enough" performed at an induction show.

Just cause it's called the Rock and Roll HOF doesn't mean it's the Rock and Roll HOF. I don't think you could call the following people Rock and Rollers: Albert King, Allen Toussaint, Billie Holliday, Bill Monroe, Elmore James, Hank Williams, Herb Alpert, Howlin Wolf, Lead Belly, Miles Davis, Muddy Waters, Pete Seeger, Tupac, Public Enemy. That's not even including Pop artists or people like Dylan.

I actually like Rage, I wouldn't ordinarily think of them as a Hall of Fame band, but since they let KISS in, heck, they all are.

What have you got against KISS? They have an army.

Rage kind of invented a genre (rap metal), and they're ridiculously better than everyone else who's ever attempted it. Greatest compliment I ever saw paid to a band was that Rage was so good it almost made people forget they were trapped inside the hell of Woodstock 3.

On a related note, I'm slow. I only noticed last week that the waitress on the Breakfast in America cover represented the Statue of Liberty.
