Up 7 runs in the 9th makes you feel 10 feet tall and bullet proof. I want to see him to it in a 1 run game, but I agree it's a good sign.

Playing the Cubs up to this game has made them look worse?

If the Reds can win tomorrow, they can split the series against the hottest team in baseball and be 10-9. If.

I have ZERO idea how we are 9-9. If we had a good BP, we could easily be 14-5.

Phillies have good young pitching who miss bats. Get a couple of bats in there and they are dangerous, and they can add payroll. They're in better shape than we are.

The Reds are getting that and developing it well. Bats not so much. Payroll? Let us hope the new TV contract is at least 3-4 times higher than the old one.

Yep. I think it is preferable if the fourth and fifth OF's hit from opposite sides. In 1990, Glenn Braggs (a righty hitter) was the fourth OF, and Herm Winningham was the fifth OF. This year, Schebler (a lefty hitter) is the fourth OF, so Holt is a good match.

You're right, but their Stephenson/Reed/Garrett are already in the major leagues to stay, and they still have Appel in the minors, who has been pretty good so far.

Appel has been good THIS year in 3 starts (in 5, 6 and 5 IP). He has not been the #1 pick-worthy pitcher before. Witness last year's 4.48 ERA with a 1.390 WHIP in AAA.
