Not a remake, but I love that they used the name, and I'm looking forward to it (you might already know about it): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bi...282016_film%29

The dominating motivator in Hollywood these days is fear. With tens and sometimes hundreds of millions at stake with each film, no one wants to be the one who said "yes" to a flop. So they just do remakes and sequels, movies based on something that has a built in audience. Anything original is too risky.
But that is just the big studios. As RedEye pointed out, there are plenty of great movies being made, just not by the big studios. The good news is that the world of streaming is making them easier to find and watch, especially some of the stuff made for streaming. I actually think streaming will open up a new Golden Age of movies, and we are on the brink of seeing it.

Absolutely. Though many of those movies are either produced or distributed by subsidiaries of the bigs. It is a narrow-cast world in many ways, and the conglomerates have adapted to it by producing content with specific audiences in mind and adapting it to multiple platforms.
If we expand our definition of audiovisual art to long-form serial television, we're already smack in the middle of it.I actually think streaming will open up a new Golden Age of movies, and we are on the brink of seeing it.

In reference to cinematography, I want to throw this out there.... when it comes to these "old" movies (classics), is one of the appealing features the fact they are in black and white? In the past Hollywood has "experimented", taken some of these old movies and "colorized" some, and IMO it lost it's appeal, and even ruined them.
