"All Saints Day" was obviously a sequel to "Halloween".

It is on the whole probable that we continually dream, but that consciousness makes such a noise that we do not hear it. Carl Jung.

There is something timeless about black and white movies. I have the Fugitive TV series on DVD. The final season looks much more dated because of being in color. The black and white hides to a certain extent that almost everything was filmed on a Hollywood backlot.

I refuse to watch any episode of "The Andy Griffith Show" that is in color.

Photography is the contrast of light vs shadow, it plays better in BW in many cases, especially when hiding/revealing

You're absolutely right about that. There's a "mystique" when it comes to black and white.

I watched a couple war movies recently ... The Longest Day and Preminger's In Harm's Way, both from the 60s, yet both shot in black and white

One trick for TV shows in color 65-72 on a lcd flatscreen is to use the cinema mode in the picture adjustments. It does mellow out some of the colors. TV shows went completely overboard from 65-72 on the use of color.

Does Tombstone count as a remake?

There are a bunch of movies about Wyatt Earp and the OK Corrall.

If it does count, is Tombstone the greatest remake ever made?

Heck, is Tombstone just the greatest movie ever made?

Excellent movie. Having studied Wyatt Earp for many years, I'd also say he was a lot closer to Henry Fonda (persona-wise) then Kurt Russell (LOL).

Tombstone is my favorite western, bar none. Is it the greatest western ever? Probably not. The Searchers probably deserves that distinction, as it explores themes of racism and redemption, and is beautifully shot in Monument Valley, and there are probably several other westerns I could name that are "greater" than Tombstone, but Tombstone is the most fun, is well acted, and has about as many great and quotable lines as any movie ever made.

Not having been alive during World War II it plays out in my head as a black and white war, as almost all of the actual film footage of the war as well as virtually all of the great WWII movies were made in black and white (excepting Patton and Saving Private Ryan). Use of black and white in WWII movies also made it easier to use actual war footage in the films.
