Humm...I have two lists. My favourites would be:

Jared Horn, Nonie Williams, Kyle Funkhouser, Matt Krook or Austin Bergner.

Other interesting guys are Heath Quinn, Stephen Wrenn and Carlos Cortes.

I don't think Mendoza will sign with anyone anymore. He's asking for too much money.

I hope Mendoza wanted to go to college, because the chances of any team paying his asking price were close to zero.

I think you are correct. I appreciate what he did. He knew he wanted to go to college. He had a number in mind, that would get him to change his mind. He then let that number be known. That way there were no games played, and no teams wasted their time/pick.

    2. Matt Krook
    3. Jesus Luzardo
    4. Nick Banks
    5. Jared Horn

I'd prefer to keep focusing on hitters.

HS arms with plus FB (and the makings of at least one other pitch) might also interest me.

College arms that profile as relievers might also be good choices later in the day. (Funkhouser is one of those.)

They better not reach for a pitcher, just because they've taken bats with their first 3 picks. If a pitcher is the BPA, take him. Otherwise, I'd prefer to see the offensive onslaught continue with Hays.

I wouldn't dislike Hays or Quinn, they are toolsy. I kind of prefer the older, grizzled Jameson Fisher though. He might top out as a quad A guy if he can't find a position or move fast enough in the system, but he looks like a dude who can just hit.

Another guy that seems really interesting is Walker Robbins. I'd be ok with taking him at some point.

I like the focus on the offense. Given that Santillan, Kahaloa, Herget, and Rainey all appear to be legit arms from early in the draft last year, the organization can afford to draft bat after bat after bat this year. Next year I'd expect a return to the focus on pitching.

Since he was a FSU signee, I was hearing the same thing from some friends. $3.5 million was floated around but I don't know the exact number.

Anyway, his best position is 3B and we just took Senzel. I know, BPA and all that, but still.

Not to concern anyone but Senzel may have gone 1st overall if not for Boras.

-- Senzel was never considered because Boras wouldn't agree to a lower deal

I like that the Reds didn't let Boras chase them off their guy.
