I didn't realize you all had already figured it out. Good detective work. I narrowed down the game because the scoredboard said Lou Brock (who wore #20 for the Cards) was hitting .240. That wasn't common in the late 60s, http://www.baseball-reference.com/pl...&t=b&year=1968

It was sort of ironic that the game, which looked in the bag in this photo, was a clunker for the team in the end. Not only that, but that you, not knowing that, posted it the day after yet one more stinker of a game from our beloved Reds against the Redbirds.
BTW, not only was the game my Dad's 40th birthday, it was the day one of my cousins was born (three days after my youngest sibling, another brother, was born).

I saw this picture right before I left work and didn't have any time to figure out when it may happened. It was tweeted out by Old Ballparks Photos. They didn't put a description on it other than it was Crosley Field. I would guess whoever posted it probably knew the irony of it.

I went back and looked at the box score and the game "play by play" info. This is the inning where the Cardinals went ahead. Brock is in his first AB with one out and Maxvill on base. Brock flew out to CF and then the wheels fell off. The Cards sent 13 batters to the plate. They scored 10 runs with two outs to take the lead. Started the inning behind 8-0, finished it up 10-8. I have no idea what the record is for most runs allowed in an inning.

You're right. I remember that game as it was a day game and the inning started while I was work, continued when I came home for lunch and was still going on when we got up to the YMCA because I took the afternoon off to go to the pool with the kids.

August 3, 1989 vs. the Astros. The Reds scored 14 runs in the bottom of the first inning. They batted around twice, and Mariano Duncan and Luis Quiñones batted three times. The second time through the order in the 1st, all nine players got a hit. Seven players had at least three hits in the game: Rolando Roomes, Todd Benzinger, Jeff Reed (4 hits each), and Luis Quiñones, Eric Davis, Ken Griffey, and Ron Oester (3 hits each). Mariano Duncan and Tom Browning each had one hit for a total of 26.

This was taken outside of Crosley Field in 1940. Crosley in the background. This Findlay Street, BTW. Now tell me what game it was?

Wow...Crosley Field was amazing. I'm fascinated by history. I would give almost anything to go back in time and watch a game there. Was there ever any thought to renovating Crosley to stand the test of time?

After I-75 bulldozed the neighborhood the entire area turned industrial, it was the river front or Blue Ash for the Reds.
