Right-hander Ben Lively has agreed to sign with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization, according to Naver Sports (h/t: Sung Min Kim of FanGraphs). He’ll take the roster spot of another former major league righty, Deck McGuire, whom the Lions will release.
The most poetic part of this is that he is replacing Deck McGuire in Korea.

Garrett - TBD - Garrett has the worst spin rate in baseball (I learned it from you)! Not exactly setting the world on fire this year

    Romano - hard to say

Castillo - Castillo is a better prospect

Mahle - seems like Lively Jr to me

Vlad - Vlad is a better prospect

Santillan - very far away, Lively all day, er day

    Hergert - Lively is better

    Rookie Davis - lol

Ariel Hernandez - this dude has a ton to prove, Lively

Zach Weiss - isn't this guy a reliever?

    Tanner Rainey - Lively

    Romero - Lively

    Lopez - Lively

Nick Hanson - come on, you can't believe what you said about this. The reds are desperate for MLB starting pitching. Chances are Hanson doesn't even get to AAA.

    Reed - Lively

Stephenson - this guy is horrible.
Not trying to single you out, but this just goes to show how hard it is to project a prospect. 90% of the time I'm in favor of trading them for proven major league talent because they chances they ever make a significant impact is slim.

I think I was correct about almost all of those. Lively has a career 1.6 bWAR, most of the guys on that list have either never made it to the majors or have negative WAR.

I read this post as RIP Ben Lively. Glad to see I was mistaken.

Sorry, gotta call you out on this one.
Lively going to Korea is a decent indicator his career is over.
Many of the players above still have a great shot at far surpassing Lively as they are still young and are current major league starters or relievers.
Others like Romano/Vlad/Santillan still project to have a future big league career and are in the high minors.
The ones who have failed were low minors relief pitchers.
Even Rainey and Rookie are still plugging away with MLB teams.
(Referring to Jack Hannahan signing with a Korean team)
Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

Ya.... and his entire bwar is predicated on a 5.50 xfip.... it was pure luck. He doesn’t have a major league skill set, and this is definitely not one to self declare victory on.

Lively has less value than literally every player on that list as of today.

As of today. I'm pretty sure his point is Lively has had a more valuable MLB career than almost all of those other players to this point.
Arise and walk, come through. A world beyond that door is calling out for you. Arise and walk, come through. It's calling out for you.

    Re: RP Ben Lively

Almost every player on that will have less career bWAR than Lively.

I looked up a few and they all have negative at this point of the ones that made it to the show other than AG and Castillo.

Setting Lively aside, that list, to me, shows what went wrong with the Reds rebuild. Just a pathetic list of SPs for the most part. It sucks so hard Stephenson, Reed, and it’s looking like Vlad all failed miserably.

Righty Ben Lively will return to the Korea Baseball Organization for another run with the Samsung Lions, the team announced and Yonhap News reports. It’ll be a one-year deal that includes $700K in guaranteed money and $250K in potential incentive pay.
