On vacation in South Florida so I went to the Marlins game tonight. They lost 1-0.

Of course THIS was the game I miss. Great effort all around. Not a bad night for a 'Quad A player' like Schebler (because no player ever improves after their first 100-something plate appearances).
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I think Shebby could become near Duvall level of HR's and slugging w/ better wheels and overall defense. I've not been distracted by his early nerves which were otherworldly apparent. He's relaxing now and actually going w/ some pitches instead of stepping in the bucket pulling everything. That oppo HR he hit tonight was a process thing of beauty. I could almost hear a certain JV's coaching session in the cage w/ Shebby nodding and looking at his shoes..

This is a great point that is often missed by us.

100 less stressful pitches over 8 innings is probably less than 80 stressful pitches over 4 innings.

Disco threw 108 pitches last night in a complete-game four-hit shutout. That means he averaged only 12 pitches per inning. That's great efficiency.

At least there is one shining light in the rotation. Disco has been awfully good since coming back from his injury. It looks like he will have to be the anchor of this staff next season.
